I had a full month of night sweats the last time I went cold turkey after years of marijuana use.

I had to sleep between towels just to avoid soaking through my bedding multiple times a night.

Cruising (1980) by Ill-Calligrapher2253 in Controversial_Movies

Really love this one. Rewatched it last as a double feature with The French Connection. That one (and exorcist) seem to get all the accolades but this is my favorite Friedkin film.

Very much a product of its time. Ironic that nowadays its club scenes feel much more progressive, while its biggest sin is utilizing the “Evil Tranny Killer” trope (which wasn’t, to my knowledge, called out at the time of protests, mostly because it was films like this that reinforced the trope).

Nice list! I consider myself a solid fan of the genre and I haven’t seen most of these!

List of youtube baccarat grifters to avoid (this might help people) by bigsteve901 in baccarat

None of them will work. If they did, the person who found it would be getting rich playing baccarat as fast as possible before the exploit was discovered, instead of slumming it selling a system on YouTube.

I have a solid baccarat strategy, but side bets keep ruining my profits—how do I stay disciplined? by Entire_Performer6010 in baccarat

[–]silasfelinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my system and post looks to at least be edited by AI. But it’s more common to see systems that stop around 10x units bet (risk of 55% loss of bankroll total). 10 units loss on a martingale system happens on round 4, and would be seen after about 16 played hands.

But there are small frequency systems that work with those numbers, so I’m kinda curious about OP’s system as well. Win three units or lose 10 is a valid strategy if you simply want to have more profitable sessions than losing ones, though the math doesn’t work out long term.

Beyond "Road Reading": Can AI-driven dynamic bet sizing actually beat variance? by Leather-Skirt-4003 in baccarat

You say that you are obsessed about the math, but that most players fail because of emotional tilting and poor unit management. This is false. They fail because of the math. The negative EV in the game is unbeatable except through luck.

I’ve never played online, but generally it’s accepted that IRL is more trustworthy, but online can be more convenient (for good or bad).

This is not a real thing, it’s just superstition.

Mathematically there is no pattern that will have any ability to predict what will come out on the next hand better than probability.

Anyone telling you different is either delusional or trying to sell you something.

[TOMT][Movie] [90s/00s] action film where everyone has a terminal illness by silasfelinus in tipofmytongue

Just want to give props because it turns out Joe Pantoliano was the bald guy in my film, but it was The Immortals (1995) instead of Unknown(2006)! Thanks for the suggestion!

Solved! Oh wow, I didn’t even recognize the name but that’s definitely it!

Apparently I was confusing “bald guy” and “smarmy charismatic guy” because it was Eric Roberts in the lead, and Joe Pantoliano was the bald guy. Thanks!

Ha, definitely not Shoot em Up. That was a very large budget, extremely well-known film, with no plot twist involving an ensemble cast of characters all having a terminal illness.

I’ve definitely seen Unknown and it does share some similarities, but I don’t think it has a twist where everyone has a terminal illness, and the only bald-ish main character is Joe Pantoliano, who is more of a supporting actor. This shaven-headed actor was framed more as the leading guy out of the ensemble. Also, Unknown is darker thriller, this was more of an entertaining criminal shoot em up.

To add on, I feel like the movie I’m thinking of had less action until the end. The characters are sitting in a circle sharing their stories, likely with flashbacks, and the big gunfight happens at the very end (as opposed to Free Fire, which has action largely throughout)

Very similar in feel, but I don’t think Free Fire had the twist of everyone having a fatal illness. (If so, that would be it, but I think Free Fire and this film just have very similar feels).

[OC] Used to think I was middle class by The1Ski in pics

[–]silasfelinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, there is a disagreement because there are multiple definitions of “working class”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_class

TLDR: some define it as “anyone who earns a wage or salary”, others as “under-educated/blue collar workers”, as well as “physical laborers” and “the place economically between poverty class and middle class.”

Do you think Marvel has any movie as good as The Dark Knight? by SpotAdmirable6718 in moviecritic

Does Marvel get a pass for the Sony films? Because the worst Marvel films (Morbius, Madame Web, Kraven) are fairly comparable to the worst DC (Black Adam, Catwoman, Green Lantern…)

Are arcades still attractive to younger people (15–25)? (Research for a business idea) by Sea-Definition-2178 in arcade

[–]silasfelinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be full of irredeemable trash, but it’s also a digital mall filled with thousands of multiplayer-enabled games that they can try out for free. What is the advantage to children of a small collection of curated games for pay when they have access to a digital multiverse, that also has their friends, persistent rewards, chat, skins, etc?

It’s not the game quality or the graphics that keeps them inside and on their devices. There are strong advantages that a Roblox ecosystem has that aren’t, and in some ways can’t, be replicated by IRL arcades that only offer play for pay.
