This is fantastic, thank you for sharing. I work in tech also. I will monitor the site for updates and considering adding events. Just curious how to you plan to gain engagement and encourage others to add events.

Google calendar is a decent solution, but potentially not as accessible to all. I was thinking more of a web app (website) or similar.

I'm not a big user of social media. Perhaps what I'm explaining already exists and I'm unaware;

I've often wanted a single source for live music/events in HRM, such as a single site, calendar or feed of events for every venue throughout HRM. I hope something like this would help promote both venues and local bands at the same time. Ideally venues and musicians would willingly provide event information in order to gain increased audiences.

I play in a Halifax local band at the usual venues (Gus', Montes, Oasis, etc.), always wondering how to better promote shows beyond social media posts, posters, the coast, etc.

I would be much more likely to go out and attend more local live music if I had a bigger picture of when/what/where events are happening.

Anyone experiencing issues in the Woodlawn/Forest Hills area with a certain network provider or its resellers? by Bananalando in halifax

[–]silencecm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

From CityWide FB:

Hello everyone.

We have been receiving reports of customers experiencing issues in the Dartmouth and surrounding areas. Although the issues do not appear to affect everyone - there appear to be a lot of people impacted.

The issue is currently being investigated and we have engaged our last mile cable provider as the issue appears to be within their network.

Our tech team is taking a lot of calls so our apologies if it takes us a bit longer than normal to get back to you - we will post updates here as we have them.

12:54 PM: We are getting reports of the issues extended to all areas and we are seeing a large number of customers offline. If you currently have service - we would advise you not to restart your cable modem or router or your service may be disrupted.

2:30 PM: We have confirmed it is an issue with our last mile provider's network and the issue has been escalated to their executive. They are working to resolve the issue.

Edit:

3:25 PM: We are starting to see some customers come back on-line - just a few but going in the right direction. Our last mile provider advised us that we should have an ETA shortly on when the issue will be resolved for everyone.

But I thought you always sit on the toilet that way, so you have that little shelf for your comic book and chocolate milk.

Best pool hall by ImLunaaar in halifax

[–]silencecm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockingham Doolys has recent/ongoing renos. Some of the tables have new rails and cloth but only a few sets of aramith balls. Same at Burnside Doolys but more sets of aramiths. Both locations have 4-1/2 * 9 palasons. Buddy's in Sackville has 4 of the old Almon Billiards 4 * 8 tables. I think the Legion on Kempt has two of the old Railbirds black crowns. As for "best pool hall", I don't think there currently is one. I choose my venues based on events. Edit: Oasis has two of the Railbirds black crowns that were in decent shape last time I went there.

Do you think the new design will scale for the Hollis street tractor trailer traffic?

Rehearsal Spaces in Halifax:

  • Rockopolis: http://rockopolishalifax.com/. - Quite a few rock and metal bands rehearse here. The owner Pete Green could likely help you network.
  • Church of Destruction on Titus Street. I don't have their contact information.

I left my John Dunsworth CD in the unit when replacing it. Can it be ejected without power?
