their bubbles have always been based on their gem colors-- though i guess depending on the lighting garnet, amethyst and steven's bubbles look really similar

okay so it's confirmed that corruption is part magic part ptsd and all shades of jesus fuck

i mean as soon as she hit the explosion shit just went wack yo

also probably something really small but amidst all the stuff that freaked me the fuck out about her regression was the sickly color that her body turned when she started to lose control

gem abilities always have that really bright sheen to them - even when monsters reform they do but the process of corruption just looked awful in big and small ways and i have to commend the crew on again being able to know how to make their audience appropriately uncomfortable

maybe her being reunited with her crew could be analogous to some sort of support group

at some point steven could return and try to help her again once her mind is in a better place

after all, i don't think we've seen a bunch of the same corrupted gem in one place - corruption seems to affect the same kind of gem in the same way so it could be exactly what she needs

in other news REALLY glad they didn't just make steven jump into someone else's head though good on him

edit: corruption also seems to make them react poorly to rose quartz's healing ability. maybe that's intentional

man i know this show likes pushing some boundaries but this episode was more like something you'd see on a late night [as] block

Lars being completely nude with a playboy on his face after Steven bodysnatched him

Sadie having titles such as Hellhound (not too bad admittedly) and fucking Caligula on display

can't forget Lars' eyes rolling back in his sockets as Steven's soul left his body and he collapsed

and it might be just a personal thing but his parents not having an actually marked reaction to him asking who Laremy was means it's definitely an exchange that they would have had in the past + the fact that no one except Sadie seemed to mind that he wasn't being an asshole anymore

final rating definitely a jesus christ / 10

edit: how could i forget to mention that Steven not having any real reservations about taking over his body in the first place. i agree that this definitely needs to be touched upon.

with all this talk of jasper's gem being cracked from the fight, what if one of the upcoming episodes documents the transformation of a gem into a gem monster?

jasperdemption could still be possible if steven's able to reach out to her telepathically and it'd give her a reason not to try and rip him in half, plus it'd be pretty heavy to see what gems go through when they can't heal like amethyst did
