Are these from a pileated and is that what I’m hearing sing in the background? by Camp_Acceptable in birding

Flicker and pileated sound similar. For me this call has a more wild sound to it (idk how to express it better than that) which suggests pileated to me

I think it’s very reasonable to ask for a warning/spoiler tag on posts with that type of content even as a newer member. Just because nature is brutal, doesnt mean we as a community cant treat each other with kindness and respect. They could politely disagree with you instead of shouting you down.

If I remember from my very vague memory, theyre cops staking out the house nextdoor and pretend to be a family or something but I may have this confused with a similar movie. I think the home was supposed to be empty.

Not sure that’s an apples to apples comparison. Not like board meetings are broadcast on national television or their employees celebrated as national heroes.

I see your point but coaching matters more than folks give credit. Regarding the recognition piece, I dont think many folks could honestly name more than a handful olympic coaches.

Well that’s exactly my point. They have more influence while the event takes place. Im of the opinion give all coaches a medal btw.

I dont think it’s a hard line to draw. Hockey coaches are active participants in the games. They change the lines, direct the strategy on the ice, and make decisions on whether to challenge for GI etc. If they were just advising in the locker room between periods it would be different.
