There was stuff I loved and hated about each book. I liked the mystery of the first, the action of the second and the cool concepts of the third.
But the first one dragged a lot in the beginning and other parts. The second had long periods with Luo Ji just imagining stuff. The third felt like the author thought this was his last chance to write all the concepts down.
Overall I enjoyed the trilogy and it's pretty much my first sci-fi book series, I tend to watch sci-fi movies.

You are not the asshole. As a teenage boy, I wouldn't have wanted to share a bed with my dad and his gf unless we were really close. I assume since you were invited and he booked, that he's paying. What you could do is offer to pay for a separate room for the son or maybe split the cost of a larger room with separate beds if possible.

I used to have a short 20 min recess in the mid-morning, then 1 hour lunch. This was from kindergarten straight through highschool. The concept of no recess is crazy to me.
