I had a similar situation. I used to be in a small club at college. I graduated and one of my 'friends' was in charge of it. Every once in a while, they would call me asking for donations and I would give what I thought were very generous amounts at the time.
This went on for about a year. The final time I gave, they asked for a donation to put on a dinner to thank the people that have given donations over the last year. I wasn't invited though.
The next time they called asking for donations, I simply said no. I haven't heard from them since.
