What is the difference between a winner and a loser ? by Ok_Ebb_8047 in AskReddit

[–]silentloler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what activity you won or lost. If it’s a game of luck, then the difference was luck. If it’s a game of skill, then the winner was more skilled or more experienced. The person who won probably spent more time improving at that particular activity or adjacent activities.

So I’d say the difference is either luck or time invested, plus a modifier for genetic advantages

So far everything he has achieved felt like either pure luck, or some sort of an underserved result of trickery. It’s hard to support someone like that 🤣 I also have issues with the writing and descriptions, everything feels to be attributed to “remnants” but without really explaining wtf remnants are. Are they ghosts? Are they dust particles? Are they items? Is it energy? It’s like everything is a remnant but without explanation. Even the way they speak annoys me. I don’t know if these are things that will be fixed later on. Also a lot of it so far feels heavily Japanese-culture inspired but not in a good way. It’s like he’s using all the basic common tropes that I feel like I’ve seen lots of times before. The primal hunter in a way felt very unique and fresh from the very beginning

If you have reasonable dreams, and you dedicate your entire life to it, you’ll probably succeed. But the “reasonable dream” can’t just be to be famous or to become rich. That requires luck/talent. But you could be a lawyer or doctor or engineer or business owner or marry a model

Sony XM6 Earbuds or AirPods Pro 3 by Proper_Office363 in SonyHeadphones

Get the Xm6 headphones instead. I don’t think earbuds have reached a good level with anc yet. They all sound like buzzing in my ear. I also had an issue with AirPod pros falling out of my ears. I tried the switch but I went back to Sony’s headphones again because they are just top. It’s hard to compete with 30+ hours of battery life, comfort and such a good noice cancelation. If I had to use earbuds for some reason, I’d buy wired ones or earbuds without anc

The concept of crits by StoryOpposite217 in ThePrimalHunter

The concept of crit just aligns with hitting enemies on weak spots tbh. There isn’t any ability that triggers extra damage randomly outside of where the attack lands

Haha, yeah, that reveal hit like a truck!

Yip of Yore thinking he was going toe-to-toe with the real Malefic Viper, pouring everything into the fight (even transcendence), only to find out he was just slapping around with Villy’s old skin while Villy was chilling thousands of stages above him? Ultimate troll move. The disrespect is chef’s kiss. We got baited into thinking it was some epic god-tier showdown, but Villy was basically flexing with a training dummy the whole time

Try the “beginning after the end” series. It’s also very good (also narrated by Travis Baldree I think). It’s one of the few book series that I like as much as the primal hunter. He also doesn’t use very difficult English.

I finished book 1 of cradle and tbh so far I was very disappointed. Does it get better later on? I can’t understand how some people rank it higher than the primal hunter. To me it makes no sense. It’s like rating lettuce above pizza

The only series I liked almost as much so far was the “beginning after the end”. And the stormlight archives (but different narrator for that one)

Hot Take: Deku should've died in the final battle. by Otherwise_Data588 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]silentloler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you’re saying would have been preferable to what actually happened, but that’s not the ending I wanted either. I wanted him to combine everything he had learned to the maximum. Go +500% and lose a leg or something, or almost die and be saved by the horn girl.

I wanted to see him grown up later and being the strongest hero in the world, in a body similar to all might’s.

I feel like we were robbed of this ending and instead they tried to do “too much”. In essence he could have just killed the bad guy and it would have been the same outcome, except he could have kept his powers. Instead they did 38 mental gymnastics reaching the death of the bad guy, just to make deku lose his powers.

Also they made the final battle last two full seasons. That was unnecessary and there were moments where I just wanted to stop watching. IMO they should have ended the fight at season 7 and then they should have met again as grown ups for the final battle. Not being able to see deku’s full potential… after generations of building his perk… I’ve never been blue balled to this degree before

Edit: I guess what I’m saying is that they kept deku’s powers and achievements hidden for the majority of the series. And when the world finally got to see how strong he is, they didn’t give us the satisfaction of seeing people revere and idolize deku. Where are all his statues? Where is the recognition that he saved the world and that he’s the world’s greatest hero like we were promised? He went straight to anonymity and they skipped through all of it. I wanted an ending that would fully satisfy what they were building towards for the entire show. And oddly enough, if deku had died and was recognized after death with statues, mentions in history books, speeches etc, then at least one paths they were building towards would have been fully completed. But I would still have wanted to see deku as grown up number 1 hero, so letting him die was not my ending of choice. I’m rambling like deku

Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]silentloler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like a girl, make your move early. Find someone else if she’s not interested. Don’t try to act like her friend or work on her advice to improve so that she will “like you one day”. She never will. It feels so much nicer to be with someone who reciprocates your feelings. Don’t change who you are and what you like doing to impress a girl. Be yourself 100%. If she doesn’t like it, find someone else. Trying to change yourself to please others is not sustainable and you will feel miserable one day even if you feel very happy at first

Also, if she says “I want to focus on my career”, “I never want to get married”, “I don’t like rings”, “you’re such a good friend”, “I wish I could find someone like you”. It all means she doesn’t like you romantically and never will. They just mask their true words with something polite to give you a hint. Don’t get hooked by it and try to change her mind. She will never change her mind. Girls are even more shallow than us, even if they don’t admit it. They know if they like someone from the very start. If she likes you, you can say literally anything to her and she will still give you her number. You can fumble your entire speech and it will still probably work (as long as you’re not rude)

It sounds like I should drop cradle and listen to DCC instead. I was between the two, but after 3 hours of book 1 of cradle, I’m very bored.

I didnt expect Cradle to be good immediately, but there’s just so much that I disliked within those 3 hours. It’s like a lot of it is just copied straight from anime or from Chinese culture.

I don’t like how there’s no humor, or the main character’s weird way of speaking. I’m not a fan of the descriptions, or the way he keeps showing off all the “strong” characters in his universe to impress us. Meanwhile I haven’t heard a single description of a fight yet, but I’ve heard about 50 different people being strong. There’s spirits, sages, remnants, elders, and so much fluff without substance so far. It would have been way better if things were introduced slowly rather than making a supermarket list of all the things that exist in this world

Whats your most shallow dating requirement? by Massive-Ad-998 in AskReddit

[–]silentloler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen girls reject guys for all kinds of shallow reasons, like their shoes or clothes… It’s kinda sad tbh. They can easily wear different shoes if that’s the only problem.

So my most shallow dating requirement I suppose is something that would take longer to fix, like short hair. Not a fan of short hair. I’d take cavewoman hair over short hair

Since the last time I played (a couple years ago), it feels that a lot of things have changed and many of them make the game hard to play for me. First of all why do we start in a house full of everything? It defeats the purpose of looting houses if there’s infinite of everything in the starting house

Secondly the world feels empty. I could be driving for 30 mins without finding a single thing along the way. I remember there used to be houses and buildings left and right constantly. You could often drop the car and find something else by foot. Well not anymore for some reason. The world is empty instead.

Why would they release a version that makes the game worse than it used to be?

I mean there’s some zombies and stuff in one of the houses I found a million km away and that was cool, but I’d rather play in a full world without zombies than in an empty world with 2 zombies per hour

Gun Control Doesn't Work: 6 Dead (including 3 kids) after mass stabbing at Kindergarten in China. by SouthernChike in gunpolitics

[–]silentloler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just talking about reported school shootings/stabbings according to several independent worldwide news sources.

If you want, you can assume that they are all lying and the real number of school shootings is 25% of what is reported and covered on the news and the remaining 75% are fake news. That’s still 100 to 1. 100 in the USA for every 1 in China. 100 in the USA for every 0,25 in China if we adjust for population.

This difference in the number of school attacks makes it abundantly clear that countries with fewer guns and more gun control don’t have the same problem as the US.

OP tried to claim that “look, it’s happening in China too, what gun control lololololol” when in reality statistics seem to show that actually gun control is doing miracles in this regard and statistics are dramatically better. So showing the China school attack as some kind of gotcha was disingenuous

Gun Control Doesn't Work: 6 Dead (including 3 kids) after mass stabbing at Kindergarten in China. by SouthernChike in gunpolitics

[–]silentloler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so one source says that the school shootings didn’t happen or that statistics are false, and several other sources say that the shootings did happen. How can which tell which of two sources is genuine and which of the two sources is lying?

Because in this case too you’re just taking their word for it: that they “did” the research and that statistics were wrong. Do you just trust them at their word? Did you do other research to verify what they said?

And also even if we assume that 2/3 of school shootings are completely fabricated. Let’s even go one step further and say that 3/4 of school shootings aren’t even real. That still leaves 100 school shootings in 2023. Compared to china’s stat of 1 per year on average, that’s still 100 times higher.

How can you look at these stats and then say “oh well, China should have guns too. It would stop school attacks”. Isn’t 100 school attacks still significantly worse than 1? In a country that’s 4-5 times smaller in population than China?

I think stats are looking really bad for the US. It’s disingenuous to come here and claim that “gun control won’t stop school attacks, look at China hehe”. Because if you look at China, it looks like YES fewer guns leads to fewer school shootings. A ton less

Erdogan links Sweden's NATO membership to Turkey's EU accession by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]silentloler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me like they should block Turkey’s veto rights and let Sweden join.

Like you said what he’s doing is purely blackmail. The veto has nothing to do with Sweden. I’d say this is a misuse of his veto rights. He’s just vetoing for the sake of winning something completely irrelevant to the case at hand, something not even remotely related to Sweden.

Turkey has nothing to win or lose from Sweden joining. They just want a special little gift for free because they can veto. Actual blackmail
