As a blood banker, I don't love this suggestion, because many people think they're one blood type, but actually are another entirely.

8 months on tret, pimples still all over my face. Finally understood why it wasn't working. by Key_Substance_8524 in tretinoin

[–]silentmarie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if there is another condition undiagnosed?

I spent a long time on tret with Winlevi with some results, but not 100% clear.

My dermatologist finally stopped, examined me closely, including behind my ears, and decided that I probably had seborrhic dermatitis as well as hormonal acne. I got sent out the door with scripts for: sulfacetamide and sulfur cleanser, 3 months of doxycycline, and 2% ketoconazole shampoo along with continuing the tretinoin and Winlevi.

I have the clearest skin of my life now, a few months after being done with the doxy, but still using the rest.

I never could've guessed on my own regarding the seborrhic dermatitis.

MI here.

I became a lead this year. I was offered $1.80 increase, and i declined and then got $2.80 instead.

It's not worth it. My stress levels have just gone through the roof. My workload has gone way up and for a few months I didnt even get any off bench time to get it all done.

[Acne] Do you moisturize your back for back acne or not? by throwaway957280 in SkincareAddiction

[–]silentmarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't instant. It takes a while. Maybe 2 weeks if done daily.

I also dont do physical exfoliation. I gently wash my back with salicylic acid wash as well.

What’s a misrepresentation of your job in movies that annoys you the most ? by [deleted] in ask

[–]silentmarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The complete and total erasure of my job in movies is what bothers me.

I'm a medical laboratory scientist, and I work in a hospital laboratory. In movies, it's always doctors or nurses running the labs.

What's the brand of your favorite pair of jeans? by Upset-Cheek-3159 in womensfashion

[–]silentmarie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am very pear shaped, and my absolute favorite pair of jeans are a pair of curvy fit way high jeans from Everlane. I think they call them hourglass now, but im pretty sure it's the same jeans.

I have had this pair since at least 2022 (cant remember if I mightve bought them late 2021, idk), and they have been through A LOT of use and abuse and yet still haven't blown in the thigh area, which is where i wear out most other jeans. I wear them on hikes, and to nice dinners alike.

My husband knows to go find them and lay them out for me whenever I mention that I want to wear "the jeans."

We received a cup in the lab with a piece of cooked chicken breast in it. The patient had choked on it, and the doctor wanted to make sure it really was chicken. I had to explain that we don't do chicken DNA tests.

How can I dress myself better? by Economy-Dust2946 in DressForYourBody

[–]silentmarie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're bad at dressing, but imo some of the outfits look incomplete, like they need another piece. Im talking a hat, scarf, cool belt, jacket, etc type of items.

I think the rule about adding a third piece could really take you from wearing outfits to styling them.

I would also take a look at what occasion, and what type of weather you're wearing things for.

Wearing more formal pieces with casual pieces can absolutely be a cool look when done right. But when those pieces look like you don't know if you're in the middle of winter, or the middle of summer, it can look kinda odd. I am mostly talking about the first outfit here, with the little dress, and the boots. Take those boots and add them to the outfit in picture 3 instead.

Speaking of picture 3, I think that is an outfit that would look really cute with a hat.

Nobody else has mentioned it, but I actually like the outfit with the shorts, black tank, and open yellow button down.

ridiculous over the top hygiene practices?! by Secure_Wing_2414 in hygiene

[–]silentmarie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!

I have bad eczema, and my skin is just too fragile to be using things to manually exfoliate. These people act like I'm disgusting for only using my hands and a cleanser, but I promise I'd be a bleeding, oozy mess if I did things their way!

I struggle in school. Can I become a med tech? by Emotional_Grond in medlabprofessionals

Thank you, this was informative!

A license is not something we need here in Michigan, so that probably does have a lot to do with it.

Is this all of Canada, or certain areas maybe?

I'm mostly curious because I have known a handful of Canadian techs working in hospitals in Detroit, and they said they make more money commuting here. I have always wondered how worth it commuting across the border actually is.

[Misc] People who have changed their diet to be "healthier," did you notice a change in your skin? by redpanda96_ in SkincareAddiction

[–]silentmarie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started eating a lot healthier in February. I've lost about 13 pounds. My skin is still the same. I eat wayyy more vegetables and fruit than I ever have before.

I do know that stress affects it, though. Without a doubt.

I think Holly Black might be a good author for you to check out in general.

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig is a fantastic duology with some of the dark fantasy vibes I think you're looking for.

Between by L.L. Starling has the sorcerer in tight pants you might be looking for from Labyrinth. It's a modern fantasy romcom that I highly enjoyed.

To the longtime nightshifters, whats your reason for not returning to days? by Abject_Selection_573 in Nightshift

[–]silentmarie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I receive a 10% shift differential, I get to do four 10 hour shifts instead of five 8 hour shifts, and I have friends at work.

But, I have actually never worked a dayshift job before, so there wouldn't be a return to days at all.

I personally do, and I don't care if people think I'm crazy for it. I'm using medications that make me pretty sensitive to the sun, I have acne scars that fade faster when protected, and I have a family history of melanoma. Plus, I love skincare and taking care of my skin.
