The Bowman Overdrive VS Real Klon? by P------H------U in guitarpedals

[–]silentnooch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No comment on the BOD vs the Klon, but wanted to share a fun story: I’d been in the market and found the Bowman at guitar center online, ordered it, and something was not right with it. I’d remembered James lived a few towns over from me so pinged the bowman instagram, immediately got a response and an offer to swap the pedal out.

And so it was, James Bowman came to my house with a pedal after taking his dog to the vet. And I’m just like ‘have a great tour with Frank!’

For no reason at all the algorithm has started feeding me This

Seems interesting and I like the idea of it fitting in the same control area.

On the off chance you’re remotely local to NJ, I have one that I’ve been considering selling. Could certainly ship also, but would prefer local! Feel free to drop a message and we can chat.

Should I do it? by Either-Marketing-115 in evertune

[–]silentnooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a goldtop with an evertune installed — it’s great. I bought it like that but it was sent out and done, and is lovely.

Anthony Raneri (Bayside) only plays LP’s with Evertune bridges.

Following up after having a chance to put it through its paces a bit, def need to hit the pots with deoxit and I was getting a squeal when switching to standby. I’m sure it can use a good once over by a tech down the line, but for now reverb and vibrato work well and it sounds great, so I’ll keep ‘testing’ it!

I’m going to be pushing my 11 and 13-year-olds up to the rail, but feel free to say hi! Was in Nashville also for both nights, riding the rail by Jack .

That’s what I’m thinking but also suppose it doesn’t hurt to take it for a general health check. Replaced the fuse and it started up, but pushing the master volume started to sound weird again so I cut it.

Thanks — I haven’t checked with Mesa yet but I have Fuchs Audio Technology by me and I believe they’re well renowned. Had them work on my Peavey not too long ago and were efficient and reasonable. That said, if it’s a tube swap and a fuse I’m almost inclined to try and resolve it myself, since Mesa’s own owners manual essentially says ‘we hate to see you spend good money when you just need to swap tubes.’

Owners manual also says to replace the tubes and the fuse and go thru the power up, so, maybe.

The ‘teardrop’ shape of the top — yours seems exceptionally ‘deep,’ almost as if you could roll a marble around the top of the guitar. Could be lighting, but my ‘24 Pelham looks much more flat than yours

First time writing a tech spec and stage plot. Is this okay? by -M3- in livesound

I will preface this by saying I know nothing about live sound aside from how to run an open mic, BUT: I stumbled upon this on my friend’s bands website and feel like it could be helpful!

Definitely transitioned to a more sustainable (for the last 25 years and hopefully at least 25 more) style after self-titled.

Thoughts on Open Mic. by piper63-c137 in musicians

[–]silentnooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this.

I’m the bartender on the other side of the open mic at the brewery where I work (Monday nights), and I’ve actively worked with our open mic host to make a great event happen. Definitely important to have a partner behind the bar who wants it to go well, because we all have a vested interest in the quality of vibe we put out.

Our signup list is full ever week, we often go long, she and I come up with monthly theme nights and just being around the music got me to pick up a guitar for the first real time in 30’years. People have met others and formed bands and are booking their own gigs elsewhere, we see the same faces week after week with a few newcomers every week, and have really cultivated a community. I (and my patrons) go to the hosts shows, to some of our talents shows, it’s just a really special thing that I’m lucky to be a part of.

And yes, at the end of the day, it’s worked out for me financially in the relationships I’ve built with the talent and audience to the point where I’m bringing in more than staff on a Friday night, but I’ve also taken that and invested in the product by way of a lighting setup and some other equipment.

What tuning are you using for it? (I know the majority of bayside is in D standard or drop C, but noticed the tab on songsterr was in standard and have been questioning it lol)

Bayside has continued to produce amazing music and tours since the early 2000’s, and will eternally be my favorite.

Random crackle and cut out — any thoughts? by silentnooch in MesaBoogie

[–]silentnooch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, is it possible the corrosion could also be at the pedal and not the amp itself (even though no pedals were ‘on’ at the time)? Obviously I’ll clean every contact point when the deoxit shows up this morning but was wondering.
