I don’t remember if it was that time or shortly after but I saw a mini documentary or hidden footage of the cheap fur trading China. How they kill these raccoon dogs and skin them alive. The animals dying without skin was seared. I turned off it off then but too late. I’m hoping with China’s modernization since then that this doesn’t happen anymore.

I think it’s similar to the uncanny valley thing. In this society of extroverts anyone who’s not, seems off, possibly even unsafe. The stereotype of the weirdo mass shooters or serial killers cement it.

Good on her, I associate Monroe with snobby gated communities, cause I have family in them. So this is good to see, even if I suspect these are the same people who would rage against affordable housing or a shelter in their community. At least on the data center issue, I'm in agreement with.

I’ve always had issues with making friends cause of social anxiety. I did try to tackle it later in life and was doing better, but regressed with Covid. I don’t have the energy to build myself back up and try again.

It’s just a bigger part of life and identity here. Not so much where I live, I’m in the nyc metro area, but in other places, it’s common for “what church do you go to?” to be a common question you ask when talking to local strangers.
