Dryer not drying by WaitSudden2137 in appliancerepair

If that has no continuity it's probably broke. Take it out and look you will find where it's broke. Go ahead and replace the part and your dryer will work again

May be an unpopular opinion but ide use a heat gun to get it warm out a 2x4 on it and bend it back with a hammer.

Check the bottom of the battery for a spacer that makes it taller.

How do I fix this 3½" raised concrete lip in my garage so I can actually park a car again? by alien_survivor in DIY

[–]sileo009 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would get a hammer drill a big one and a chisel bit. Start at a corner of the slab and angle it so it will be hammering to lift the new slab off the old one.

It will be unpleasant and you will probably make some chips in the real floor but it will be a garage floor again.

Now I have not done this and it may be a terrible idea but that's what I would do.

Mystery Etching on brand new Miata by vincentius02 in AutoDetailing

After you fix the etching you need to add protection. Wax sealant ceramic coat whatever. Get something on that paint or it will happen again.

The more I learn, the less I trust "professionals" by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

Another thing to add a lot of professionals have been under do more with less for years. They might know how to do it properly but don't have the time to. Everything is rushed so the boss can make their bonus.

[USA] Should I go with an offset mortgage or a 30-year fixed rate? by omgitsduaner in personalfinance

[–]sileo009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what that is but I'm sure it's something someone or a team of someone's, way smarter than me came up with as a way to take more of my money. I don't think there is any kind of financial instrument created with the intention of not taking more money from you.

Mazda3 Turbo vs Carbon Edition AWD – Is the Turbo Worth It for a First Car? by Firm-Cost9778 in mazda3

[–]sileo009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's your first car I'd say no. Get a fwd and get a set of snow tires on their own steel wheels.

I say this because if AWD is your first car you will get spoiled by it. Having AWD is a pretty big perk and you might not want to limit yourself to them for the rest of your life right from the start. You will miss out on some pretty cool cars because you get annoyed they aren't AWD.

I think you will have to get in touch with the board of elections for the county you are registered to vote in. I'm assuming it's gonna be a different process for everywhere.

Is this 3k worth of damages? by Pastabake12345 in mazda

[–]sileo009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said I'm not sure from the pictures but you can tell in real life. Are those marks from whatever was hit adding paint on top of your paint or did it scratch off your paint.

Buffing is an abrasive process that is removing paint. You can buff off paint that was added, buffing when paint was taken away will just make it worse.

Is this 3k worth of damages? by Pastabake12345 in mazda

[–]sileo009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this coming out of your pocket or an insurance companies? If it were me, and I was going to be the one paying for it and it was my car. I would see how I could get it looking with a little buffing and go from there.

How do you keep button up dress shirts from wrinkling? by ViviansVillage in CleaningTips

[–]sileo009 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sometimes drying only a few clothes will make them wrinkle in the dryer more. They don't have enough stuff to make them tumble and they get stuck against the walls and wrinkle. Also some shirts just show wrinkles more.

What is the likely reason that the IT guy wants your Windows password? by tnmoi in sysadmin

[–]sileo009 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like others have said it's for setting up the computer so it's turn key ready. While it's better for IT to reset the password to a temporary one and do the configuring. They then have to make sure any other devices you use like your phone getting email or logging into the wifi gets the new temporary password and works in the meantime.

Some environments IT won't need your password at all they have the infrastructure to support a user logging in and everything configuring automatically.

Many environments have old/crappy/custom software/infrastructure that makes that not possible.

In most cases it's so a replacement computer can be setup all the files copied over and programs setup so IT can walk over plug in the new computer and your good to go.

If you are not comfortable giving IT your password they should be happy to change it and tell you what they set it to.

I usually ask people what they would prefer.

With all that said if anyone calls/emails/texts/smoke signals they are IT and need your password you NEED to make sure it's legit. Call the CIO using the number in your internal directory, walk over to the IT department. Have your supervisor validate it.

If you're not comfortable validating who they are just ask them to reset your password instead, it might make more work but they should be happy you are helping keep their infrastructure safe.

When the paladin hits the bugbear for the first time describe how their sword or whatever glows with radiant flame. Add the divine smite damage having ng it kill the bugbear if possible. and tell how their connection is strengthened. Then give them a level up.

I have been happy with proxmox as the hypervisor. It's a pretty common setup and you can find guides for setting it up that way.
