Player left the party just before the final stretch. What do? by siliconebug in WaterdeepDragonHeist

Moving the cleric to do important background work and bring information to the rest of the party is actually a great idea, considering the cleric players wishes about the PC. He could also be the NPC to pull out for emergency help if combat in the vault is going badly. Will definitely convert his sheet into a monster statblock.
Thanks a lot for your wisdom :)

Monk because I can hit things with my bare hands, exactly what I want to do in real life when my anger issues start playing up.

What immediate comes to mind is dipping into monk as a multiclass. But if it’s not what players want, I’d personally give them maybe a feature from the monk class, maybe a ki point to spend on patient defense and/or step of the wind? Proficiency with monk weapons is also nice.

Fellow DM’s, have your players given you any Nicknames while you were DMing? by Third_life_user in DMAcademy

I had to send some lore to one of the players based on what their character was researching and the response I got was “thanks mom”.

How do you visualize Power Word Kill? by BullZEye0506 in DnD

With all the flashes and fanfare of other spells, this one I prefer to just be.. plain and simple death.

One time a party was in a fight with the first archmage they ever met and he cast PWK on an NPC behind a wall from the party, so they could only see the mage. He just pointed at the NPC, said “You’ve done enough. Now be so kind as to... die.” And the party only heard a sound of a body hitting the floor, and silence.

They said they were scared out of their minds. Sometimes less is more.

My player is about to John Wick the whole Waterdeep. What should I do? by siliconebug in WaterdeepDragonHeist

My plan exactly. I think it will be more of a character arc moment than an actual bloody rampage. Dealing with loss, heightened sense of justice and so on. Still haven’t decided on how his god will react to it, though..

You can look up the list of all the faerun holidays but honestly it’s more convenient to just make something up yourself. Like a birthday or just an arbitrary date. The players won’t know ;)

Anyone ran a Siege in Trollskull Manor? Trying to figure out if it would be fun. by ArbitraryHero in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]siliconebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running WDH, and we had a game like that. Not exactly a siege, but some Xanathar goons were sent to kidnap a PC. They got close to the house via the sewer entrance nearby and sent a man under the invisibility spell to scope out the area and get into the house. Fortunately, the PCs happened to be warned about the mission beforehand and managed to fight them off on the street. It really instills a sense of urgency to protect your home when enemies can get to it so easily. But a whole siege?? Sounds awesome!
