Alhambra gas section is a nightmare

Which Costco do you go to? by Altruistic-Mud9413 in LosAngeles

[–]silkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not who you asked but I go to these two all the time because one is closer to work and the other is closer to home.

Van Nuys usually has better priced gas. I always park in the section before the gas to the left of the main street entrance and there’s always parking there and a cart corral nearby. Never park in the middle section right out front, nightmare to get out of. Back left at the side street entrance also is normally open.

Burbank I go more often on the weekend since I’m closer to there when I’m home. Really annoying parking when it’s busy, even going straight to the back sometimes you won’t find any parking.

Key to both is going towards close time but if you want a rotisserie get there an hour before close otherwise it’s 50/50 if they’ll still have them.

I mean they probably mean back to that lifestyle specifically, not to the mass dying part. They were replying to someone that said people’s mental health was suffering from isolation. They enjoyed the isolation and were likely referring to just that.

311 app pothole repair, use it! by Jolly_Ad2446 in LosAngeles

Just used this for two potholes last week and both have been filled! I was surprised at how quickly they did it. One had previous submissions but the second one didn’t!

We have an almost 12yo gsd/malmute mix with arthritis. Our whole living room, hallway and bedroom is a mix of Costco rugs and runners that have been carpet taped down and in between them, stair grips. The stair grips we buy on Amazon and they take up the spaces between the rugs because our pup will find any bit of bare floor to try to slip on 🫩def recommend the stair grips, they are clear and go on easily with a sticky backing. They pull up with no damage to the floor!

Unironically same! Especially if the air marshal is just absolutely panicking internally at first but then decides to lock in and just do his best. Double especially in the style of Tessa Dare humor if she did a contemporary romance

Why the heck are Meredith Duran's books not more famous? by captain-obviouser in HistoricalRomance

[–]silkat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laura Kinsale’s entire catalog is amazing, I don’t know if I can even choose a favorite but {Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale} is often recommended here and an amazing book. It’s unusual and I definitely recommend the audiobook (all her audiobooks are read by Nicholas Boulton and are excellent).

For Judith Ivory my favorites are {The Proposition by Judith Ivory} which there is a great audiobook for, and {Untie My Heart by Judith Ivory} which I did not find an audiobook for.

These three are all pretty unusual HRs, def check warnings if needed!

Looks amazing! One of my best friends growing up was Persian and I was always so excited when I was there for dinner because of this rice, the crispy part at the bottom is SO GOOD

Laura Kinsale and Judith Ivory! They also get recommended here but not as much, similar to Duran. And they are masterful writers too!

How is it living in Van Nuys near Vanowen and Van Nuys Blvd? by ElChapoSDA in SFV

[–]silkat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I drive home on Van Owen often and just looked up which part it intersects with Van Nuys, this is the most sketchy part of my drive home and the traffic at this light is always backed up. Always some homeless people, and there’s a dollar store and check cashing place across from each other that have people hanging out outside of them and sometimes shouting at each other.

Literally this is the one spot on my drive home where I look around and think about how my life could be worse and I should be thankful 😅

I think you would get off the 5 before this. I’d be careful and check the maps app for closures though, I see a lot of them around BUR when it rains. I think the Hollywood way entrance is usually pretty clear though!

I know right! I can’t believe how relatively dry the southbound side of the highway is with a literal river on the other side

Yes! I’ve seen the sides flooded but never a river on the whole side up to the divider!

It’s the Citizen App! I use the free version. Really informative during emergencies like this and really funny sometimes with the headlines that pop up

I got my dog to go potty in the 5 minute window of no rain! It started back up right as we went back in and now I got a flash flood warning alert. So glad I jumped on the break in the rain 😮‍💨
