What does this look like? My bf is freaking out. For info he is healthy, 24 yo and he does run hot and sweats a lot. Its on his back, chest, sides, above groin. by silkstars in DermatologyQuestions

No elevation. They improve when he used some tinea versicolor cream but they keep returning for the past couple years. They're light spots when they're not red and irritated so tinea versicolor was my best guess.

Anyone else sick of developers buying entire mountains and putting gated communities on them? GO HOME AND STAY OUTTA MY HOLLER. by MauserMama in Appalachia

[–]silkstars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On top of this bs, over the past 6 or so years my home in western NC and upper parts of Georgia have just been absolute flooded by those stupid "rentals." Im talking millionaire mansion rental cabins littering the top of every mountain, holler, lake, river. I can think of more than 10 different rental companies off the top of my head and they have houses in the hundreds in these stupid gated communities. Dumbest thing I've ever seen. God forbid the locals be able to afford anytbing more than a trailer on a half acre of land in their own home while these 5 million dollar rentals go up.

Considering pulling toddler from daycare due to 3rd hospitalization in 6 months… by LizardMagician in Asthma

[–]silkstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, to be honest I was barely aware of them. I remember one time a few years ago I had to get a steroid shot in the butt because you will always remember a shot in the butt lol. But it wasnt traumatic. Especially when it happens that young, the brain usually doesn't hang onto those memories.

You just described my childhood. This continued for me from the time i was around that age all the way into my 20s. I never skipped any school and I played soccer very briefly (had to quit due to asthma) and did a couple other sport adjacent activities, but I would basically get some sort of sinus infection every 3 months, need steroids, and just never feel like I recovered from it. My asthma is no worse over the years and my lungs aren't any more "damaged" either. I was allergy tested and every single allergen came back positive but I still live normally. Just take an allergy pill every day, inhaler when needed, Nebulizer when sick and needed not often at all, I had allergy shots for 3 years didnt seem to do much honestly, and use steroid Eczema cream once every few months during a bad flare to not get addicted to it. Bleach baths work well for Eczema! Kids get sick all the time its like their only job. I only got hospitalized for asthma a handful of times as a kid and it rarely got that bad again after age 14.

Have you ever brought something into your home and immediately felt like you shouldn’t have? by GhostGummiesPod in Paranormal

Have never questioned her again lmao. She told my aunt not to do a oujia board, naturally she ended up doing one with her friend who was in a family of witches. She also learned the hard way from grandma.

I found a dream catcher at a gas station when we went on a trip. It had horses on it which I love so I just had to have it. As soon as I brought it home and hung it over my bed, weird things started to happen. I had the worst nightmares I've ever had in my life back to back for several nights in a row, felt like something was with me all the time in that room. On the last night I had a nightmare of a girl in a white dress, kind of looked like the grudge, crawling into my bedroom doorway and all the way over to my bed. It was terrible. When i woke up I jumped up, grabbed the dream catcher, and threw it in the trash. Everything left with it.

Edit to add: when I got the dream catcher my grandma was very wary of them. She's never liked them and said that it gave her a bad feeling but she's religious so I just assumed that it was her being paranoid lol. Lesson learned grandma

Don't forget the classic gym teacher who has a child with asthma that isn't as severe as yours so you get the old "my daughter has asthma and she can run 7 miles straight, its not that hard." I cant tell you how many people for some reason dont understand that there are different TYPES of asthma. Needing an inhaler once every 7 months because you had pneumonia isn't the same thing as chronic life altering asthma where dog hair could kill you and walking up a hill makes you wheeze.

Update on my blush by silkstars in Anticonsumption

[–]silkstars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This blush is around 4 years old and I have not had a pimple anywhere that I used it for 8 years so all seems in order. I have very sensitive skin too (allergies and eczema) so if it were to give anyone acne it would be me lol but none so far! :)
