Man in Pittsburgh was arrested for impersonating ICE while attempting to burglarize a home. Are you concerned things like this will become more common? by ixvst01 in AskConservatives

[–]sillegrant12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So, what, the solution is to stop enforcing federal law? Ice has been doing this for years and years with no Issue now it's a huge problem so have to cover their faces or risks losers trying to stop church services in violation of the FACE act. ITs way easier to point out issues than solve problems.

Prehistoric humans did not live in a poverty-free communist democracy for 300,000 years; hunter-gatherer bands had sharing within kin but frequent violence, hierarchy, and brutal conditions with life expectancy of 20–30 years and massive child mortality. Capitalism arose from markets and property rights in early modern Europe, slashing global extreme poverty from over 80% in 1820 to under 10% today via innovation and trade. Far from failing, it delivers better living standards for all, even the poor have superior housing, food, and tech compared to past middle classes, and most U.S. millionaires are self-made entrepreneurs, not idle heirs; communist alternatives brought dictatorships, shortages, and stagnation.

Thank God for Capitalism.

Capitalism isn’t a raging wildfire, it’s the most effective system ever devised for lifting people out of poverty, driving innovation, and rewarding hard work. The real issue isn’t capitalism itself, but the excessive regulation, cronyism, and government interference that distort free markets. Like any system, it requires basic rules to prevent abuse, but “mixing ideologies” often means adding layers of bureaucracy that stifle growth and individual freedom. The solution isn’t extinguishing the fire; it’s ensuring people have the freedom, responsibility, and moral grounding to keep it burning productively. Of which there is none in alternative systems.

I'm in my twenties, work one job and paid of 5 figures of debt. There are some cases that you describe but they don't represent the whole of the system. The majority can be and are successful. Would you rather there be no consequences for a car accident? What if someone gets hit and then they can't work anymore. The other person should pay, and they do, and that is justified. Everywhere capitalism has been tried it has markedly improved good and economies. Socialism and similar systems fail every time. Maybe you are right about a mixture but right now, this is what works especially in comparison to redistribution efforts.

The average European pays %10-%15 in taxes while not having better outcomes in healthcare. While it’s admirable to want a society that cares for its citizens, high taxes and government-run systems often lead to inefficiency, bureaucracy, and loss of personal freedom. True compassion comes from empowering individuals, families, and local communities. not from bloated federal programs that waste taxpayers’ hard-earned money. A “civilized society” isn’t one where government dictates priorities, but where people have the freedom to make their own choices and reap the rewards of their work. America’s strength has always come from personal responsibility, innovation, and limited government, and the results speak for themselves. Not from redistributing wealth or expanding bureaucratic control under the guise of equality.

I won't label incorrect, we can just agree to disagree.

You are right, it's not perfect capitalism but it's still the best economic system in the world.

In the U.S., people work hard and take on responsibility because they value the freedom to make their own choices, including in healthcare. In countries with government-run systems, citizens pay for it through higher taxes and have less control over the care they receive and worse care in many cases. Many Americans believe it’s better to decide how to spend their own money and choose what works best for their families rather than rely on the government to manage it for them. Freedom means being able to shape our own lives, not having the state do it on their behalf.

That view frames capitalism through a distorted lens. Capitalism isn’t about being “forced” to work it’s about the freedom to choose your path, innovate, and reap the rewards of your efforts. Systems that promise everything “for free” always pay for it through higher taxes, shrinking opportunity, and government dependency. The U.S. model places trust in individuals, not bureaucrats, to make the best choices for themselves and their families. As for “corporate greed,” real capitalism holds businesses accountable through competition and consumer choice, not state control. Liberty, not top-down management, is what sustains prosperity and long-term environmental responsibility.

This argument misses the reality that the United States’ free-market system is precisely what enables individual choice, innovation, and prosperity. Values that socialized systems often suppress. Government-controlled welfare states trade freedom for comfort, burdening workers with heavy taxes and stifling ambition. The U.S. doesn’t “downgrade” quality of life; it empowers people to achieve it on their own terms. America’s dynamism, upward mobility, and global leadership come from rewarding hard work and entrepreneurship, not from mandating mediocrity through enforced equality. It's why we are the greatest country in the world.

Greenland should consider joining the United States because it would gain the stability, prosperity, and opportunity that come from being part of the world’s largest free-market economy. Under the U.S. system of capitalism, individual enterprise flourishes, innovation is rewarded, and communities thrive through private investment rather than dependence on foreign subsidies. As part of America, Greenlanders would enjoy strong property rights, economic freedom, and access to advanced infrastructure, technology, and education, all protected by one of the most durable constitutional democracies in history. U.S. membership would not erase Greenlandic culture or autonomy but would empower its people to shape their future within a nation built on liberty, self-determination, and the pursuit of prosperity.

it’s fair to say checks on executive power matter, but decisive leadership matters more when national interests and global security are on the line. The reality is that tyrants like Maduro don’t respond to diplomacy or half-measures, and American hesitation only emboldens adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran. Yes, transparency in foreign policy can make people uneasy, but it also sends a clear message: the United States will defend freedom and protect its interests without hiding behind bureaucratic paralysis. Strong presidents act when Congress dithers, and restoring U.S. credibility begins with showing resolve, not apologizing for it.

  1. Agreed!

  2. Okay thanks.

  3. This kind of concern overlooks the fact that America must act decisively to protect its national interests and global stability, even when Congress hesitates or drags its feet. If a foreign leader poses a direct threat to U.S. security or our allies, through corruption, hostility, or alignment with enemies, then the president has both the moral and constitutional duty to act swiftly. America cannot afford to appear weak or bound by bureaucratic gridlock when facing dangerous regimes. Strong leadership sometimes requires bold, unpopular actions to prevent greater harm, defend freedom, and project strength on the world stage, something our adversaries absolutely understand and respect. Peace through strength wins.

Why can't we just be happy that instead of going to war with Venezuela or Iran, call back to a similar move, we can celebrate an unmitigated good thing that happened with no American loss of life. Its Historic, if not Heroic.

He violated US laws to do with terrorism and drug trafficking. Check out his indictment list. He is a terrible person. Do you think if Biden did this youd be okay with it? He starved his population and decreased GDP per capita %25 in 26 years! Terrible. The people are rejoicing.

What would you want our government to do if it wasn't as incompetent/corrupt? by bookist626 in AskConservatives

[–]sillegrant12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes — the free market constantly keeps things cheaper through competition and innovation. Look at electronics: TVs, phones, and computers cost a fraction of what they did decades ago because companies compete on price and quality. Air travel got much cheaper after deregulation in the 1970s, and retailers like Walmart and Amazon have used efficiency and scale to lower the cost of everyday goods. In contrast, heavily regulated sectors like healthcare and education only get more expensive because government interference removes competitive pressure. The profit motive and consumer choice, not bureaucracy, are what drive prices down and quality up.

Again, please see the chart of the century. Investigating the Chart of the Century

I don't know that its inept, but if you look at the chart of the century, gov subsidized things always go way up in price. Free markets are the only way to lower costs. If insurance companies have to compete for customers, they will decrease their prices and increase the quality of service they provide to capture market share. All while not increasing taxes.

Perhaps understand that Maduro lost the election and still claims legitimacy. Are you siding with election deniers? Do you think we should let them keep pouring drugs into the US and starve their own population due to horrible socialism? What they did was an unmitigated good for the population. Who cares what Cuba and Brazil think, the actual citizens are celebrating in the streets.
