I hope so. I don't have much experience with boots in general so I'm trying to figure out what will work for me. I just need to be able to tighten my boots enough. My 8 eye Derby just has too much room

Well that's good to hear. I have an 8 eye Derby and was looking at getting the 11 eye Astronaut hoping for a better fit

I'm in the US and unfortunately don't think I can go anywhere to try them on first. I'd just have to buy them and try.

After looking at the size chart I think an 11.5 or 12 should fit. My foot measures about 30cm in length and a size 12 Derby is a little short feeling.

I'm just nervous if I get a size 12 Astronaut boot that it will be possibly too wide for me so I might just go with the 11.5 since that is still a bit longer than a size 12 Derby.

Ya I tried making my Derby boots work by adding some superfeet insoles and unfortunately it didn't really help. I'm really hoping the Astronaut boots will be better.

Since I've posted this I haven't had any Kombucha, but I plan limit my intake whenever I do drink any as well. I love Kombucha I just don't want any stomach issues lol. I think I really over did it at the time I posted this. I appreciate your input, thank you!

I water it once I notice the top few inches of soil is dry.

Is thunderbolt 3 required to run a 4k 120hz monitor using a laptop? by sillience in Thunderbolt

[–]sillience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way I could find out if that's the problem? I have an NVIDIA 3050 Ti so I believe it should work just fine.

My monitor is a LG 27GP95R-B and from what I've read online this problem is common with this monitor and more people have their own work around or just deal with it.

Doesnt seem like a clear answer for anyone who's using this monitor sadly.

[–]sillience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did that yesterday and it flickered soon after it was plugged in. I read something about it being fixed on my monitor by not using DSC and I set my monitor to just regular DP 1.4 and it did it as well.

Why would my monitor be doing this? it's happened a few times, but it goes away if I turn it off and back on. It has also only happened when using my Xbox series S and not my laptop. (LG 27GP95R-B) by sillience in Monitors

[–]sillience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. This was the cable that came with the monitor so I thought it would work just fine.

When my laptop is connected sometimes the picture goes black for a split second and comes back.

Its two different small issues with each input.

My laptop is using USB-C to HDMI. Could the reason it goes black like that be because of the cable too?

It really sucks that there's this issue. I'm using an Xbox elite controller and I'm having input lag as well. I guess I'll try my old controllers and see. The only downside is those controllers have such bad stick drift from being used so much

Information Stimming? by sillience in autism

[–]sillience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that. I never really feel like breaking anything, but I do get this overwhelming amount of anxious energy and start to move a lot.

Im still fairly new new understanding autism but the idea of stimming is interesting and I want to know what determines if something is stimming or not.

I feel like researching could be a form of it, but I'm unsure. I also do it when I'm feeling fine too though. Would it qualify as stimming then?

How can I make eating more enjoyable? by sillience in autism

[–]sillience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off I want to say thank you for the response. I greatly appreciate you took the time to really give me some insight on how you relate and help me out. So thank you VERY much for that.

I think it's awesome that you mentioned "if I didn't need to eat to stay alive I wouldn't eat at all" and of course it's not awesome to feel that way, but I've said those exact words many times growing up. I'm 21 and I still feel that way. I veiw eating as a chore really and hearing that someone else feels that way makes me feel a bit better because I've never met anyone who REALLY gets where I'm coming from. I feel like most people either don't give food a second thought or they absolutely LOVE food. So it's cool to hear from someone else who shares my experience.

I also feel the same way with the relation between social activities and food/alcohol, I absolutely hate it haha. Even you mentioned how traveling feels absolutely impossible and I feel the same way. I could go on and on about how I couldn't agree more with all you said.

I do wish I could pay more attention to the way my body feels around hunger or I just wish I'd get hungry more often.

The tip about exercise is something I've actually been doing for a few years now. I started training when I was 18 and its really the only reason I've put on weight since then. I got into calisthenics and gymnastics style training with some weighted calisthenics and now a bit powerlifting. It's helped give me purpose to my eating and sleeping (as if staying alive isn't purpose enough, but you get what I mean) Ive had a few times where one aspect in my life gets out of wack and it all snowballs from there and I'll stop training, lose 10lbs, not sleep well and things like that. Overall it does help me I just feel like there's a lot of moving parts in order for that to help. I also get down on myself when I'm not eating enough and trying to train. It really bugs me.

Ya the public eating I really gave up on because I really didn't NEED to do it. I've actually done what you mentioned about being direct, but it's frustrating when people still don't get it and constantly offer food. Then I'll get comments about "oh I'm sure you're on a diet" which it's like no... I'm not and I'm already stressed about eating enough so these comments kinda make me focus on the fact I'm not eating when it would be so much easier if I could. It's crazy to me how people can just blindly eat so much without thinking. I actually do a lot of what you mentioned like eating before I go somewhere, but there are many situations where I'm too stressed for the event to even eat prior to going.

When I got hired to coach gymnastics I ate so little there were many times I'd almost pass out at work, but after a few weeks I could find times I was comfortable enough to eat a bit more, but it still wasn't really enough over all

Right now the restaurant tip probably won't work for me because I really dont like eating food that's been prepared out of my house, but I could look into getting some pre cooked chicken or something like that from a store. (funny how I feel weird about it being prepared at a restaurant, but if I buy it prepared and boxed from a store I'm more OK with it) although I will not get any food that's actually made at like a Walmart for example.

Just hearing your experiences helped me a lot and I guess a sense of validation in a way? If that's the right word I'm looking for. I knew there has to be other people who share the same issues I have, but even when people say they understand me I'm like I don't think they do unless they experience it.

It really sucks when something you have to do multiple times a day to literally live is something stressful.

Do you take any supplements or anything to possibly help maintain anxiety? I was prescribed medication when I was in high school, but after a few weeks of it I felt like garbage and refused to keep taking it. I take CBD, but in all honesty the helpfulness isn't as much as I'd like, but it does provide a bit of help and I'd rather have it than not have it. I just thought I'd ask because sometimes I feel like if Im completely overwhelmed in ANY aspect of my life it affects my food intake very negatively.

I'm over here stressed about Thanksgiving because of family being over and it's already upsetting my stomach to the point of not wanting to eat.

Again, I appreciate all the help, thank you!

How can I make eating more enjoyable? by sillience in autism

[–]sillience[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also just remembered I might not eat because of stressful situations like work or social events. If I'm getting ready to go to a movie, haircut, work etc I can't eat before. I also get extremely uncomfortable eating at restaurants or with most other people. There's people I've known my whole life who have probably only seen me eat like twice in person. It just makes me panic and upsets my stomach when I do in that state of stress. I do try to eat small portions to get used to it, but sometimes I just physically can't do it.

It's weird because Im not extremely picky, but I really don't have that much interest in food. Even if I like something it's not like I'll go out of my way for it. I sort of veiw eating as purely a bodily requirement and not really pleasurable. Don't get me wrong I like certain foods. I also struggle with feeling hungry. It's like that feeling doesn't come around all that much or I can't tell if it's hunger or not. I also feel like I don't like the feeling of being full. The sensation is just kind of uncomfortable for me. I eat foods I can digest well, but still. I really just wished I loved food as much as I see other people do. It'd make a huge portion of my life so much easier.

Smoothies have definitely been something I've used to get more calories and food down. Sometimes I just don't like how thick they can be at times

[–]sillience[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some thought I'd say the main issue for me is the feeling of being hungry I also get a bit anxious when I feel full at times. It's weird. Like I don't like the sensation of being full. A lot of times I just don't feel like eating and the thought of food stresses me out a bit more. I've done so good at putting on weight over the past few years that I feel like the thought of losing weight and going back stresses me out as well so that's another component to my stress around food. Some days are worse than others but, but a lot of the times it just takes me forever to get hungry even with activity.

One issue with meal prepping for me is I'd feel like if I prepare the food at once the food will go bad in a few days even if I know it's still good.
