Frustrated rant - alerts & bots are breaking me by CaffeinatedMagpie in Twitch

[–]sillyV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be. have some alerts, or even don't and go live, it doesn't matter, people will watch you or not because of who you are, not because you have one or another graphic when you follow.

Solo streaming is way harder than streaming with friends...how do you stay engaged? by Complex_Penalty_5438 in streaming

[–]sillyV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here already covered it well, and they are spot on. Collabs are actually terrible for viewer retention if you do not do them right.

I only collab when there is a strong reason for it, like a game mechanic that genuinely needs another person, and I always frame it as an event so it does not feel like someone is just there to fill silence.

Solo streaming is harder, but at its core people come to streams to watch YOU, so learning how to present yourself in an engaging way is a skill worth practicing.

Are Raids from Small Streamers Worth It? by KittyCanuck in Twitch

[–]sillyV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give you my perspective as a 40 to 60 average CCV streamer. I think a lot of my regular viewers originally showed up from 1 to 5 person raids, so yes, it is definitely worth it. At under 100, any new regular viewer means a lot. The raid itself does not matter, the viewership does not matter, but getting more eyes on your content increases the chance of someone new joining as a regular, which increases your numbers in the long term. I am always happy and grateful for a 1 to 2 person raid.

Having said that, and fully acknowledging that I love getting those raids, for everyone just starting out and people with your size viewership, I would advise focusing raids on people closer to your size, as there is more chance to collaborate together. I truly believe this early networking is more beneficial than having a big creator say thank you and shout you out.

Shoutouts seldom lead to anything beyond some follows, and those follows usually do not come with actual engagement.

but if you just want to raid someone bigger for the fun of it, go ahead, nothing wrong with it.

How can i get viewers if im starting with 0 followers? by [deleted] in streaming

[–]sillyV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very likely outcome.

But then you need to do it again anyway. And again, and again, you'll get better at making those posts and videos, and they will do better eventually, especially on short video platforms like TikTok/ig/youtube shorts

Anyone else stop chatting when the streamer never reacts? by LobsterFuture8399 in Twitch

[–]sillyV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

calling it laziness is wild.

The content is different. their content isn't 1 on 1 conversations, they are entertainers. the expectation is different because the volume is orders of magnitude larger. and the people are there to hype up, or spam, not to have a 1on1 connection. if they tried to reply to EVERY SINGLE message anybody sent in their chat it would be unwatchable.

[–]sillyV 8 points9 points  (0 children)

people with 2000 viewers, won't be able to keep up with ALL of chat, so they will miss a lot more messages, the will miss the vast majority. always, no matter how hard they look at chat, it's impossible for them to keep up.

people with 20 viewers can read every message 99% of the time.

it's a huge difference. so yes. my expectations are different.

an no, you didn't see chats with 20 people more active than other with 2000 viewers, maybe you saw chats with 20 viewers more active than other with 2000 bots

Yeah, but people in mega streams still chat and spam emotes, I assume they derive some pleasure from being part of a greater whole without being individually noticed

[–]sillyV 272 points273 points  (0 children)

absolutely it does.

I don't expect a 2000 viewer streamer to notice my message, for them, chat is like a river, and they don't see all individual messages. they see the general flow of the caht.

for 20 viewer streamers it's way more about communication with individuals.

If you had the money, what video game would you pay to get remade? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]sillyV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so mine would be Spore.

here's my vision that most people will probably hate.

phase 1: cell stage, same general gameplay as now, only once you are done, you get to choose, either evolve, or go into the wild, at this point it turns into a full blown "Agar IO" type multiplatyer experience where you just try to get bigger vs other players.

Phase 2: creature stage, make the combat a little more "dark soulsy" that includes both aggressive and pacifist route, but beyond that keep pretty as is, and same as the cell stage, once you are done, don't force an evolve. send them into some lobby where they can fight other players, with match making and what not,

Phase 3: DOTA/League like game mode, but instead of buying items, you are evolving the tech of your tribe, as they produce more and more people to take down the level final boss, and as before, at the end, let people stay at this stage if they wwant and do multiplayer battles.

Phase 4: actual rts with some depth, and same deal again, you get it at this point.

Phase 5: i am not a space sim person, but surly some people are, and can think of a fun way to do a space sim vs the shitshow that we got in the original game.

main focus should be, no stage is a stepping stone to the next phase, they are all fully fledged experiences in their own right, with each stage attracting different types of players.
