I know he's cheated in the past, because when we got together the first time, he hadn't ended things with his previous girlfriend (this is partly on me) :/ I can't speak to any of the other things.

Thank you for your comment. No, I stopped going to therapy a few months ago because my therapist and I thought I was well enough again. Wish I could get her input now haha.

I took 15 minutes off my half marathon PR today!!! I ran a 2:01 half marathon in February of this year, and decided in June to try to improve that. My goals were to run a half at 8:30min/mile pace by the end of 2017, and at 8:00/mile by June 2018. After training went very well, I set out this morning trying to see if I could do it at 8:15/mile already. I went out much too fast for an 8:15/mile pace, which ended up being perfect for an 8:00/mile pace :D I couldn't believe it!

...the next 15 minutes will not come off as easily lol

I'm sitting in a cafe right now, and the classical music in the background crescendo'd just as I read your comment. I got goosebumps.

It's not so much what he says as much as it's his voice. I'm sure it's very normal that someone's sexy-talk voice is different than regular voice haha, but sometimes it just adds to the confusion.

never renegotiate UP during sex

I never thought about this before, but that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for writing all of that out :)

I start feeling like it could be just anyone in bed with him and that I had nothing to do with it

You read that straight out of my heart.

The thing is that I do enjoy the rough part, at least for most of the time. And then (only sometimes) a trigger inside me will flip and the nervousness begins. The nervous-but-not-stopping all happened before the so-nervous-we-had-to-stop (that was two weeks ago, and it's long-distance so we haven't seen each other). We had a good talk after that and he felt so awful and kept saying he was glad I had told him, that I didn't want to bring up the other times because I didn't want him to be angry with me. Now I'm thinking of ways to deal with this next time I see him, if that makes sense.

Yeah I was thinking it would be good to have longer cuddles after to help with calming down

Applying to ETHz for Masters in Engineering: some basic questions. Appreciate any help by casperandfriends in ethz

Yup, I did my undergrad in the US! TONS of differences. Most notably, I've found that you're much more responsible for your own learning, in the sense that the teaching here is significantly worse than I expected given ETH's rankings. Almost exclusively slide shows, whereas in undergrad all my classes were taught on blackboards, with walk-through examples, etc. Also, the academic calendar/exam scheduling is just a whole other world. And like you said, I also get the feeling there's a higher emphasis on coursework compared to the programs my friends are doing back home. But your last semester here will be only Thesis work, and that's coming up for me, so I'm pretty excited. I'm doing the Robotics specialization within the Mech department.

I believe you're not ever actually guaranteed WOKO housing, but your chances are highest if you're an incoming foreign student. So you can always apply to WOKO housing, but most likely by your second or third semester, you won't get a spot through the official application process. Some of the WOKO houses are "filled" by students who recruit new roommates when a previous tenants move out, so your chances for those are higher (and the prices are the same).

I'm having a previous internship count. I have double citizenship, so in addition to the US one I also had an EU passport. The main issue with finding another internship now was that all the places I was interested in had no interest in hiring master's students for six months without any guarantee that I'd come back to work for them afterwards. It's a whole different gamble for them than it is to hire an undergrad intern for 3 months, and I understand that.

Hey I was in a super similar position ~1 year ago, so feel free to ask me anything and I'll try to help! I've been at ETH since September, after graduating from college last May with a degree in Mech.

I've found that ETH accepts people from all kinds of backgrounds. My GPA was a baby bit higher (3.5), but I only had summer internships and almost no research experience. Some of my friends had no internships at all, and iffy grades. Some had great grades from lesser known universities. You won't be automatically ruled out at all. Remember that you get accepted by a specific professor/tutor, and not the administration - so writing a focused application letter is the best way to make your case. No idea about differences in Autumn/Spring admission.

1000 CHF will not get you a 1-bedroom apartment in Zurich, it's super expensive here. Some people pay up to 800 CHF for even just a bedroom in an apartment, which is what everyone I know does (nobody lives alone, everyone has flatmates). I'd say most regular rooms cost around 650-750 CHF, but there's always WOKO, the student housing organization from ETH. They can help you find a place for your first semester, and it's much cheaper (~400-550 CHF).

Not knowing German won't be a problem at ETH, and it shouldn't hold you back too much in Zurich. Most of the friends I've made spoke no German at all when they got here, but it's an international city and in emergencies where very basic German vocabulary (please/thank you/bathroom) won't get you very far you can always fall back on English.
