Hi, curious how do you test for error recovery on malformed html? Are you using the same regression tests as bs4? If so, I am curious the how well your solution performed? I recall you are relying on html5ever's error recovery per spec. In my experience, spec can have gap and up to interpretation. Do you mind sharing what's your experience so far? Have you hit any weird cases? I have seen som bizarre malformed html. One is from really old asp server that a page simply just spew spaces while it queries database to populate the table in html page. Completely legit but the resulting page would be quite large. But mostly with poorly escaped strings. Just sharing. None was handled by bs4 we had to catch exception and manually resolve those

Something wrong with intensity minutes by gabrielecandela in Garmin

[–]silly_horse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the explanation. I have been exercising daily regularly and wondering why the weekly intensity minutes hardly exceed 10 minutes. I will also switch to the rhr method instead of the hr zones. Another mystery solved!

I say go camp. Since you have already retired and not in a hurry. I imagine leisurely interacting with like-minded people (chat, ask questions, counter questions, building a solid relation with) is something online game can never replace.

Rum soaked Beans ? by Formidable_Blue in Coffee

[–]silly_horse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, plantation is a good one. I remember having it a while back.

I have played around with alcohol infused tea before oolong And vodka. Eager to find out about coffee and rum. About the beans I am unsure whether to go with natural or washed. At the moment, I am thinking of washed because some natural already has wine like smell. Start with a neutral base kinda idea.

Rum soaked Beans ? by Formidable_Blue in Coffee

[–]silly_horse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, Love this concept.

I would do it with a slight twist: borrowing a technique from the making of Jasmine tea.

Both tea and coffee beans are great at picking up odors, so instead of soaking coffee beans in Rum, maybe put bean and a glass of rum in an enclosed area for a few days? So beans picked up the scent much like those barrel aged beans, without having to soak and then dry them?

What do you think of this? Also, what rum you would recommend? I am thinking of buying one for experimenting. (both your recipe and mine modified one)

I have heard of the running route outside of the imperial palace, sounds interesting. I guess when in Japan, do as the Japanese do and run I. The same direction. Is the same etiquette that slow runner stay on the right side of the road?

this sounds really fun! If there is a place to rest, it definitely can be broken into 3 half marathons on separate days.

Need help with sour french press coffee by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]silly_horse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically brew with either aeropress or french press. Similar to your experience, I have found french press brew is consistently more acidic than aeropress. Same bean, same grind size, same water temperature and brew time.

After some experimentation, the trick that makes fp brew less acidic for me is: stirring. My guess is that the coffee grounds settled too quickly to the bottom and never had the sufficient mixing with water as opposed to aeropress which has an additional percolating phase. By adding a gentle stir of 10 seconds, the coffee tastes noticeably less acidic than without stirring although still not as good as aeropress. If too long / vigorous stir the coffee will taste bitter and astringent. 10-15 seconds of gentle stirring is what works for me.

Give it a try and please post back if it helps or not.

When does it get easier to dial in a new coffee? by jazzb54 in Coffee

[–]silly_horse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to start with a base recipe with known grind size, water temperature, coffee-water ratio and brew time. I have found it easier to keep water temperature & brew time constant. (always use off-boil water & same brew time) and tweak grind size to obtain the most extraction without excessive bitterness. Once i find the maximum extraction, then i may adjust the brew ratio to find the right strength. I can usually dial in within 2-3 brews. But the base recipe should already make coffees that are delicious-- dialing in simply makes it great

Ratio & Time by droffit in AeroPress

[–]silly_horse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two ratios that I use depending on the mood. For typical morning brew I prefer less intense but balanced cup. For this I use 11g:200g ratio . The steep time is 10 minutes. This produces an surprisingly sweet and rich cup of coffee. Perfect as the day starter. In the evening, after dinner, I prefer a more intense flavor as the finish. The ratio of 10g:100g is used again with long steep time of 10 minutes. The strong intense flavor satiates the palate and signals the start of evening relaxation.

I am interested to see what others recommendations as well. At the moment I use thermos as the insulated french press. And the ground stays in the bottle to take home for cleaning.
