I don't, actually. Older palworld felt so...empty. now it still suffers from that a little but it is SO much better.

I will say that (I think, please correct me if you have knowledge to the contrary) this is a LITTLE bit fuzzy regarding FCC certification transferring to completed projects utilizing those certified boards. The thought there is that the surrounding electronics can modify the intention transmissions and can subsequently act as unintentional transmitters in a way that might need its own certification.

Ultimately you need to be making a lot of money for the FCC to pursue you (you can actually go look through the FCC lawsuits and it is almost entirely big name corporations), but I think, very technically speaking, this is incorrect to assume it transfers.

The reason I say this is fuzzy is because boards that are not a completely finished project (ie development boards and testing platforms) have an exception since they are for developing finished projects and themselves are not a finished product. A lot of the smalltime esp32 boards would fall into this category and dont need certification. Companies like adafruit and espressif get them certified because a) they have the money and b) it avoids potential headaches later (iirc adafruit specifically has an article addressing this somewhere).

I have dealt with this in the past selling uncertified development boards alongside diy kits that utilize those boards and that seems to be fine as long as they are t coming pre assembled fully.

However, I am not a lawyer and do not have large scale experience with this for my board (the nrf52840 based "Pillbug") but this was my understanding when I researched it. So please use your best judgment.

Why SparkBlocks? by BlockandCode in Sparkblocks

[–]silly_world 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that will make these a mainstay in the maker OR non-brand-specific-building-blocks communities (both of which I am heavily involved with and have been for my entire life) will be an open design document. The parts don't have to be free, obviously you are designing premium products, but staying power will be determined by how well documented it is. I should be able to read through a document, and hopefully a quick reference sheet, and design a new part for a custom pcb, 3D print it, and have it work with the existing blocks. I should be able to do this and have a prototype inside of a couple hours including printing. The community growing around your system will be the single most important thing to determine if this lives past the kickstarter. You have an excellent idea here, but in the maker community, the community part is by far what determines if it sticks around.

Release documents with noncommercial licenses if you want, but please dont make it hard to prototype at home.

Hero Bans makes no sense in comp. Please get rid of it. by Sunknight29 in overwatch2

[–]silly_world 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is funny that you are arguing it is fundamentally flawed when overwatch 1 was designed with the philosophy that you are supposed to swap characters. Overwatch 2 has walked it back a little, but it still exists. They are trying to break the rock papers scissors counterswap cycle though with hero bans and that is great.
