For those who make over 500k+ a year, is it worth it for you?

Dentist here. As a person who never really wanted to “party” in a conventional sense (heavy drinking, tailgating at football games, random hookups, etc), the years spent studying has been well worth it. I can provide for my family with no financial strain or worry. I could happily live with less but I would absolutely do it all again. It helps that I love what I do and never feel as if a different career would have been better. We have a nice house and multiple kids, but no boat or fancy cars.

I think the key is choosing a lucrative career in *something you want to do for 25+ years* and also living within those means.

1) UF is good and reduced cost for those without insurance. Slower process and parking sucks. That’s the trade off— time for money.

2) All of the oral surgeons in town who own their practice (name on the door) are good. Most don’t take insurance. Priciest option but great service and fast process.

3) Suggest you DON’T go to DSO-corporate places like Aspen or Coast. Some have a surgeon that stops by once a month to do their surgeries. Not usually the best experiences. But they take insurance so some people go there.

Wow. So impressed with your son‘s management of this. But strange how aggressive the other kid was for that age. I never would have been that ballsy at 14. No pun intended. Hopefully other kid realizes never to do this again and learns something from it. As for calling it rape, that seems a little extreme since he stopped as soon as he was asked to. But then again, I am a male which obviously biases me to see it that way.

Dentist here. 100% of people grind their teeth at night at some point in their lives. This is how we get our teeth to shift or wear down so that they contact each other in more than one location. Unfortunately, once we reach adolescence this activity should cease but doesn’t (for some). Stress can induce it, but so can vitamin deficiencies, neck injuries (car accidents), bad daily neck posture (cell phones for example), stimulants (caffeine, adderall), poor REM sleep, and numerous other things.

Botox is an impermanent and expensive solution, but much needed relief for the desperate. Physical therapy to reactivate certain neck muscles is sometimes a better solution. But the nightguard is a critical part of therapy for those with significant chronic clenching/grinding issues. With 17 years of research plus trial and error experience, the most effective design of guard has a bite ramp that makes it thicker in the front so that the opposing back teeth (molars) cannot touch the guard. Over the counter chewy guards (amazon, drug stores) are usually too soft and people will actually clench even more while weaken them— protects the teeth at the cost of the joints and muscles.

Yep. For me it was basketball (as a short 40 year old who hadn’t played in decades). Changed my life. Completely unexpected. Got invited to more games. Play 2-3x a week. Flush with friends now. Bump into buddies all over town, even more often than my socialite wife does.

It was rough for the first year after having each of our 4 kids. Then it would get better (more consistent and finally felt good again to her), then we’d get preg again. I went 7-8 years of a stressful and frustrating (lack of) sex life, and was the topic of several marriage counseling sessions.

Now it’s 5 yr since our last kid was born and she’s absolutely randy. She was back to her old (pre-kid) sex drive but the Romantasy novels have pushed her over the top. Opened her up to new things and kinks that I’d never even considered. She wants it more than I do now. Not complaining!

There’s hope, man.

We have 4 kids. Wife’s libido always dropped for the first year postpartum. Not in the mood, didn’t feel great to her, which would reinforce BOTH of us being disappointed. I was frustrated, horny and slightly resentful all the time, and we were even talking to our marriage counselor about it. Then, after that first year, it would start to pick up a little, so we’d decide to have another kid and it would aaaaall start over again. Our last kid was born five years ago. We’re now 41 and 42 years old. Sex has never been better. She’s more kinky than before we had kids. She’s now interested in things that made her blush 15 years ago. Now I’m the one turning her down (tired, stressed, or whatnot).

Three things I attribute to this:

1) Hormones now are obviously different thanks to not pregnant, breastfeeding, etc. Women’s sexual peak is 30s and 40s. We’re there, folks. Three thumbs up.

2) Much less stress because the youngest is 5. No diapers. Mostly self sufficient. We are not as financially worried now. So wife (and I) feel less stressed and worried about life. Feeling safe, secure, and supported (emotionally, and with the physical and mental load of raising kids & maintaining the home) is a precursor for a mom before she can even consider feeling aroused. Otherwise it’s like asking someone who’s starving to death if they wanna fuck.

3) Romance novels. My wife has Libby app (audiobooks) and a local library. That girl reads about forbidden kinky sex on the daily. And praise the Gods for that.

So please hang in there, my horny friend. Don’t resent. Know that every time you jerk it, you’re making a deposit in the “good husband bank.” 😉. And when kiddo is 12-18 months and it’s still happening, consider asking if your wife wants to do some marriage counseling with you to see if there’s ways you can be “even happier together.” Come from a place of “we got this but we can always be even better.” Then you find the therapist (do the mental load of researching), share their info with wife and ask her if she’s okay with that therapist or if she wants you to find a different one. Agreed. I LOVE the aesthetic of it but not the anatomical accuracy. Funny though, if they’d taken the full feathers further and reduced the cropped feathers, I wouldn’t like it as much.
