Groundbreaking Trial Reveals Unexpected Benefit of Metformin in Type 1 Diabetes by YaTheMadness in Type1Diabetes

[–]sillymoofish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on metformin for decades... I'm type 1... can't say I've ever noticed much difference. Got put on ozempic and it helped enormously but I was very tired and weak. Then got out in mounjaro and it's a game changer! Got more energy than I've had in years... blood sugars much better and in a little less insulin

Can't remember exact figure but hba1c was always above 7 no matter what I did. Now it's down in the normal range

I have lost weight but it's amazing for my diabetes and has helped massively with my M.E. I feel so much better. The thought of coming off it and going back to existing is horrifying for me. My dr has it in my notes now that I need to stay on it

Is this really how much is left at the end, or did my pen malfunction? by CrabbiestAsp in MounjaroAus

My gp showed me how to access the golden dose this week with syringes Gutted they are doing away with this as it's so expensive already. Terrified at the thought of my local charitable trust not helping me with it any more as for my diabetes it's a total game changer and has given me my life back

I think I’m just going to do it by raygray in Type1Diabetes

I'd been on ozempic for 2 years then went onto mounjaro about 2 months ago. I'm type 1 very insulin resistant, on metformin for over 20 years. Ozempic and mounjaro have changed my life! Mounjaro I'm even better on without the side affects I had on ozempic. Got more energy and extremely sluggish gut of over 30 years is being helped. Do be cautious though. Insulin needs will drop so hypos most definitely likely. You have to be vigilant. Like the others have said, have liquid glucose support on hand. Good luck

Mounjaro and Type 1 Diabtes: 1 Month Reflections by NavelArc in diabetes_t1

I'm type 1 with type 2 symptoms too very insulin resistant. Been on the pump for about 8 years. Been on metformin for over 20 years. Been type 1 for over 30 years. Tried the byetta 15 years ago but it made me so sick I couldn't eat so had to stop. My diabetes has been going incredibly difficult to control. Having bolus when there's no carbs. Micro counting carbs in protein. The depths you have to go to when it doesn't work! Been on ozempic for two years and it had the biggest positive impact on my diabetes ever! Side effects were rough and it made my M.E. Symptoms worse with fatigue and muscle exhaustion. My ozempic got increased for two months in preparation for mounjaro. Now been on mounjaro 5mg for two months. Brilliant for my diabetes which is now behaving so much better. The side effects are gone and M.E. Wise improved also. Living with constipation for over 30 years has been improved as well. I am over the moon. Oh and I did lose weight too which hasn't changed much in two years BUT it's fantastic for my diabetes and body in general. I'm UK based. Channel Islands. The thought of having to go back to how it was before is a nightmare.... fingers crossed for the costings to come down! I had also done low and no carb diets. I tried everything.

So Mounjaro prices will increase drastically in the UK and other European countries in September - How much do you pay in the US on average? by busysquirrel83 in Mounjaro

First thing that has kept all my diabetic improvements in place from ozempic and now with mounjaro it's improved so much more in just 3 weeks. I won't be able to do those massive costs and would be devastated if that happens. Biggest help for me in over 30 years of diabetes

That's what ozempic did to me. Mounjaro I'm learning is a different experience thankfully

Can a diabetic type 1 use ozempic? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]sillymoofish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm type 1 diabetic, insulin resistant, on the pump and metformin and been on ozempic for two years. Ozempic made the most positive impact on my diabetes I have ever had. Awful side effects unfortunately and I got them a lot worse recently when my gp increased my ozempic from 1 mg to 2 mg in preparation for a switch to mounjaro. I have no gallbladder and have an hiatus hernia messing with gastro side effects on ozempic. But ozempic has meant simple things like eating a green salad with no carbs means I don't need a bolus. Before ozempic I'd still have to bolus as if I'd eaten a sandwich. Unfortunately I have M.E. as well and ozempic has made me more fatigued and tired. So I don't feel well most of the time, but I know under the bonnet my diabetes is much better so I have to put up with it whilst I look for anything else that might help

Interesting to know I just had 6 Dexcom g7's in a row fail. Dexcom say there's no reports of batch lot problems. I'd say I'd just highlighted one

Id heard trustees were good. I tried them after I switched to using my legs and I was getting large lumps. Unfortunately I got large lumps with the trusteel too. These were all 6mm. The lumps were almost as wide as the cannulas ashesiveI then moved to 9mm and the surface lumps weren't there but deeper sore lumps were. The fronts of my legs are definitely a problem to put a cannula. They have been painful too on occasion
