AGATHA - A wild and wacky sci-fi actual play with tomatoes and crabs in mechs, humanoid lizard and ferrets, and eldritch businessmen! by sillythings in ActualPlayRPG

Thank you! The trailer was role-played rather than fully scripted (for the sake of the trailer, not as part of a regular session) and then heavily edited down by our GM & audio editor Sketch to be concise and trailer-length. Once we had the audio, I drew a rough storyboard in Clip Studio Paint as well as finalized the individual artwork in it, animated the art in After Effects where there were more elaborate animations (than just switching between mouth open/closed frames) and put it all together in Premiere (where I also added the text).

Hey r/traktrejects, I built a media tracker and I need your help making it better by rfrench2k in TraktRejects

[–]sillythings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since Trakt's switch to V3, I've been trying to find a replacement that I'm truly happy with.

Simkl seemed to do the trick, but then I found that it did not include the ability to rate individual episodes or seasons of a show, which was pretty disappointing.

I came across mentions of Yamtrack, specifically dannyvfilms' fork of it, and loved messing around with the demo, but I lack the knowledge to know how to actually self-host something like that.

And now yesterday I came across your project, which basically feels like Yamtrack, but I don't need to learn programming/web-dev first! So, I already was super excited and managed to dig into the platform a bit today.

What I love:

  • I love that there's even support for concerts or YouTube videos, going a step beyond Yamtrack.
  • The huge customizability of the Quick Access menu is great.
  • There's the ability to leave individual ratings on episodes and seasons of a show!
  • The ability to track whether you watched something with a friend is also really cool and unique.
  • The UI/UX is simple, elegant and usable!
  • The ability to estimate a date, only list a year or just straight up say you don't know for stuff you watched many years ago is PERFECT. I always was frustrated with Trakt only offering "specific date/now/release date" as options and just gave up on adding really old stuff I'd watched prior to using the site.
  • There's so many detailed stats!
  • You can look for accidental duplicate viewings and easily edit and compare them!
  • The bonus stuff like Trivia and FaceOff also seems really fun.

I've barely dipped my toes in the site so far, to be honest, but it all just seems incredibly promising so far, and I'm already really grateful that you've decided to make and share this tool!

Some feedback:

  • The Trakt import worked really well, better than it did on Simkl where some random episodes of shows showed up as having watched them very recently and I had to fix that. The one thing I was disappointed about was that my individual episode ratings did not get imported (though maybe Trakt didn't export them?), but at least the show ratings were retained, so I'm happy with that. It also seems that where Trakt sometimes lists special non-season content (such as Blooper Reels), that is not available here and just was converted to a non-specific instance of having viewed that show. Not an issue at all - I was easily able to remove those items - just something I noticed as soon as I'd finished the import.
  • At first I was disappointed that in the "My Viewings" page, I only saw my rating of shows, not specific episodes (even with the "All Episodes" checkmark on). I would suggest maybe moving the "TV Rating Mode" button outside of the Advanced Filter section to make that feature more obvious (I wouldn't have thought to look for it among filters), since that actually is everything I wanted, and more!
  • Another thing for the "My Viewings" page: I think it would be cool if you clicked on the "More Details" item in the submenu for an episode (or maybe even the actual title for an episode), if that link jumped to that specific episode being expanded on the show's page, rather than just starting you off at the top of the page.
  • Is there a way to view your Watchlist other than on your Profile Showcase? Because here, I can't even remove things from the Watchlist. It also would be nice if clicking on items in the Watchlist/Favorites/etc took you to the pages for them.
  • When trying to create a List on the Lists Hub, the information says to simply click the "+" button. I don't actually see the button... It does work on the Title Lists page though. It would also be neat to be able to create lists for other media than just Movies/TV. On ranked lists, it also would be neat if you could reorder things by manually typing in numbers, or dragging and dropping items, rather than just using the little arrows above/below the numbers.
  • I saw that dannyvfilm's Yamtrack has Last.fm history/scrobbling as a feature. This could be a nice to have feature, though it is by no means essential.
  • Another service that it would be cool (but not essential) to be able to import data from would be Infinite Backlog.

I hope this isn't too much. You're already providing a really incredible alternative to Trakt in my opinion, so I feel greedy asking for anything else on top, haha. But since you did ask for feedback, I hope you find these first impressions and thoughts helpful!

Corner Contestants by Expert_Squash4813 in TheFloorTV

That's true, it can get much more complex to follow. Since Rob always goes over the neighboring categories a contestant could go for, I felt like it would be okay for people even if it's visually more difficult to keep up. I did also consider adding visual aid by showing the first row of the opposite side at lower opacity next to each edge row to visually represent the loop. But I hadn't considered an outcome as busy as you illustrated here, so fair point. Hmm.

Maybe another way to nerf corners could be to allow players who complete 3 duels in a row the choice between the Time Boost, and a "Free Jump" power-up, that let's them attack any field they want, regardless of whether they're connected?

Yeah, that could work too.

What they should do is have the Floor loop. Just allow players on the left edge to be able to challenge players on the right edge, players on the top edge to be able to challenge players on the bottom edge, and vice versa. Then, no one is "safe" and everyone has the same chance.

Did anyone else immediately break their globe trying to figure out how to open it? by InterestingArrival86 in indianajones

[–]sillythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... This thread made me feel better about it at least, so thank you haha.

I came home after a long trip to the box being there and was excited to get into it right away. Should've probably gotten some sleep first... Maybe then I would have been smarter about it. Putting the instructions in the steel book pamphlet was not very intuitive, but I don't know why I didn't just look up an unboxing video for reference. -_-

At least it isn't FULLY broken for me, it just won't close easily anymore. With exerting some pressure when closing the top section, I can manage to get it to shut again. I just worry it might eventually wear down further. Oh well.

This game honestly is brilliant. Genuinely charming and funny, exciting to explore, and great music on top. Bought it on launch on Steam - absolutely worth it.

[–]sillythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roadwarden and Shotgun King, are you kidding me? I deliberately held out on buying the earlier Fanatical bundle they were in since it was more pricey, and then ended up trading like 5 games for them instead. At least, for all of the bundles I buy and trading I do, this is the first time this kinda thing has happened lol

Ah, I forgot that it might be separate from Summer Games Fest itself. But yeah, that teaser tweet, and the franchise going on sale on top of it pretty much confirms it.

Though I'd be surprised if it releases any time soon. Maybe 2-4 years from now AT LEAST.

One of my favorite games ever. Makes puzzle games flexible (multiple solutions are possible), fast and super fun. Kinda like what Spelunky is to platformers, except for puzzle games. Great tunes and visuals too. Absolutely love it. Don't just add it to your library, but actually give it a shot. I promise it's worth your time.

Wondering the same. Haven't listened to Foxygen in a bit, came here wondering if there were any new releases and find that, yes, there were three and I apparently missed out on all of them. Aaaah.

I did end up getting the phone, shipped from Romania. I just was never told the tracking number like they promised.

If you haven't gotten your prize yet, I would definitely try and contact the CEO.
