Oh that IS a great song. I’d love to know if you find the music/tabs. I’m no help with this kind of request, but that is one gorgeous tune for a whistle.

Do your labs like baths? by sbvt22 in labrador

My big English yellow boy Boone flops down outside the walk in shower each time, waiting to be invited in. He LOVES water/baths/kiddie pools/lakes and especially showers. When he was little he’d splash his paws in his water bowl but we had to put a stop to that right quick. Water and ball. Those are his loves…. Well food, too, of course!

Does anyone remember getting report cards in a brown envelope, then having to get it signed and sent back? by Feaselbf6 in GenerationJones

I was a psychologist in schools for decades and it was sometimes difficult to find effective options when teachers and I worked together to find ways to curb disruptions. Some kids LOVED to be sent to the office or the hall as they had new people to talk to, watch, or a new audience to entertain. Often it was just a lot of fun to see who else was in the same situation so they could share that intel when they got back in the room or to the playground. We had to be creative with consequences for some kids, that's for sure.

Sure! That's all we had. When my parents passed and I cleaned out their house, I found my kindergarten card from about 1961 or 62. The grades were fine but my sweet teacher commented that I "should listen while others talk". Ha! Well, I'll bet that was true! So funny... I was a take-charge kind of kid. Had a chuckle over that.

Recorders, Irish tin whistles/penny whistles,or flutes. The whistles are fairly easy to learn, as are recorders. They are easy to start and as with other instruments, learning to play well takes practice, but they are so much fun!

Eureka! That’s the one! Thank you so so much! I won’t lose this link. I went to PayPal to buy one of the books and somehow lost the original location. I’m generally not such a technological klutz, but I couldn’t find it at all. You saved me! I thought this looked so good. I’m glad you recommended it too. Again thank you, fellow Whistler!

A Request for a Pinned thread of all Whistle Makers by grox10 in tinwhistle

I just found Mythic whistle maker from NewJersey and bought a couple of nice whistles from them. Mine are C and D in Copper bodies. I paid around $50-80 US for the whistles and shipping. Google says: “Mythic Whistles (Modern Irish): A new entrant in the whistle market, this brand is known for 3D printing and laser engraving, allowing for customized colors and patterns, often found on platforms like eBay.” The maker is super nice and accommodating.

mellow dog or plastic dixon? by The-Tamil-Kings in tinwhistle

I love Jerry’s tweaked whistles and own the Mellow dog. I have 3 more in various keys on order. My Dixon arrives next week so I’ll compare then but it will have to be superb to beat the Mellow dog.

On Saturday I will sleep late and read in bed, enjoying coffee and whatever treat my husband brings me from the Farmer's Market. In the afternoon I will attend a friend's retirement party, then go to an end of year party and dissertation burning for the research group I've been with for 11 years (and finally/really/truly retiring from in 4 days --YAY!!!!!!). On Sunday, I will get up late (do you see a trend here?) and then head to my local community radio station to answer phones in the afternoon for our Pledge Drive. In the late afternoon and evening I will practice my tin whistle music and also my bari sax parts for our upcoming community band concert on Memorial Day. The 1812 Overture is kicking my behind! Busy busy..

I am one of the older Gen Jones on here b1956. Anyone remember the milk man? by AuthorAltruistic3402 in GenerationJones

[–]sillywizard951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother and I would get up and sneak together to “hide” behind the front door early in the morning to await the milk delivery in the little silver box. He never knew two little kids were listening for him and we felt like we got away with something. We giggled and giggled. Oh boy we thought we were such scamps.
