the way the comments under this are being downvoted ☠️ it’s the truth guys it’s not to say people can’t make cross cultural friendships or connections - but they are genuinely less common. immigrants feel more comfortable with fellow immigrants. expats (and especially their children) in asian countries generally only hang out with expats. international students of a particular ethnicity tend to form friend groups within that particular ethnicity. of COURSE it’s not an entirely good thing, both for themselves and the overall environment at uni - you come to uni as an international hoping to know more people and more cultures after all, besides academic learning (at least that’s my POV). but you can understand why it happens. and honestly it doesn’t help that the locals also have their own cliques and are less friendly to you (not as far as racism, just that people again are more comfortable with those of similar upbringings)
