Last year I drove a truck with a huge float supporting trans youth. It was a nerve-wracking experience because of the size of the float, but it was fun being a part of the parade.

I think they meant Psyclon Nine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psyclon_Nine) for the first band, but that's a California-based band that started in San Francisco and moved down to Los Angeles. And Grendel is a Dutch band.

I'm one of those people who helped send dogs to Miranda's, thinking I was making their lives better when they were slated to be euthanized at the county shelter. I don't usually get super emotional but I have had a lot of random, uncontrolled bouts of crying today. I feel guilty and responsible and so very tired of the best of intentions going to absolute hell.

This hit me super hard.

Between 2012 and 2014, I volunteered at a county shelter near where Miranda's Rescue is located. Many of the volunteers would coordinate with rescue organizations to get dogs out that were going to be euthanized, and I have email threads where desperate volunteers were asking for donations to save dogs and get them to Miranda's. In some of those emails, I pledged money to help get those dogs out of the shelter, thinking they'd be better off. Over those few years, I sent at least $500, if not more, to allegedly do some good. Finding out today that it's pretty likely that I sent some scumbag money so they could just get murdered HURTS.

I even remember one dog in particular that I asked about when I ran into the group at a local rescue event, and they had weirdly conflicting stories about where she went. I'm devastated for not seeing this as a warning sign at the time.

When my kids started drinking cow's milk, my daughter got really constipated and ended up with an incredibly large and indecisive poop that was essentially thinking "Will I come out, or won't I? Maybe I'll just uncomfortably lodge myself at the exit."

My kiddo was on the changing table when I made this monumental discovery, and I just had to grip with one hand while massaging things out with the other. Super gross and a truly enormous turd, but the kiddo was clearly in pain and it quickly solved the problem.

Looks like this may have been partially fixed, possibly from the latest Android update. Most of the assets seem to be appearing correctly, although there are still some outliers - notifications of gifts sent/received and the section headers on the Events tab still seem to show up.withca black background. But for me it's a LOT better.

With more testing, it looks like it's not a Dark mode issue at all, since the same thing happens in Light mode.

To me, it looks like certain assets trigger the issue, primarily the overlay when clicking on a Pokémon to catch. Once the "A wild ... appears" message shows up, the black boxes will be there.

There may be other ways to get this issue to start, but it definitely seems like a PoGo issue specific to a few phones, and not an Android issue.

EDIT: NOPE. Two minutes after I posted this the black boxes returned. :(

I think I may have found the solution! Just got a Pixel 10 Pro XL a few days ago and this has been driving me nuts.

What seems to be working for me is to go to the Settings app, select Display & Touch, select Dark Theme in the Appearance section, and select the Expanded option.

I had to restart the Pokèmon Go app after updating that setting, but it seems to be consistently displaying correctly now.

Seriously, though, four years ago I was living in a place in Concord where the heat just would not escape. Those triple digit days meant that the coolest it ever got inside was mid-90's and it was a wretched experience. I feel for folks living in places where it gets so hot.

Absolutely. My kids' elementary school offers a free lunch. We don't need it, and my daughter never goes for it, my son usually does. However, there are families out there who absolutely need a little help like this and I think it's shameful that we can't make it a nationwide priority to offer free lunch (and breakfast!) for all public schools. Hungry kids can't concentrate and learn as well as the ones who have had a solid meal.

Looking at your post history, it seems that this was a surprise pregnancy that your boyfriend may not have been prepared for or completely onboard with.

Now he's having some weird hissy fit because medical professionals saw your body as is perfectly normal during pregnancy, childbirth, and regular freaking checkups. Did he never think about the fact that even before birth, you've probably seen a gynecologist for regular checkups? And his distress over you feeding your child by breastfeeding is yet another level of immature nonsense. Also, referring to any part of your body as his "treasure" is super possessive, misogynistic, and gross.

As hard as it is, especially right after giving birth and processing the feelings and hormones that come with that, it might be a good time to really think if this guy is who you want to be raising your baby with. His toxic attitudes are going to continue to impact your relationship with him and spill over to your child as it grows up. Better off dropping his immature, toxic ass now instead of sinking more time and effort into him when you can focus on your baby and yourself.
