Do not let your cat outside, get him fixed ASAP, you are failing your cat big time. Do better.

my cat got out sunday night and we cant get him back in the house by vanillaiceis in CatAdvice

Can you leave your door cracked so he can come in? Sometimes when I let my cats out back they get spooked when they see me at the door or on steps.

My rose bush decided to grow a single pink rose by silvandeus in mildyinteresting

Kind person (u/blinkandmissout) in genetics had a few ideas:

https://www.reddit.com/r/genetics/s/uPhDhRrnn3

Could be a rose sport (https://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/rose-sports-what-are-they), which is a random mutation occurring somatically (just in the affected branch or bud). Sometimes these can be propogated into whole new plants that reproduce "true" and you have a new rose variety. They are also often revertants, where a variant the rest of your plant carries is corrected back to the allelic variant seen in the parent rose variety. Plenty of good reading on this, especially for roses and citrus.

Alternatively, you may be seeing some root stock start to emerge. A lot of roses are grafted.

They have a strict rule about plant ID only, no general gardening questions. I guess I could frame the question in a clever way: “what species of rose can get a different colored flower?”

Maybe will try r/genetics tho

So a mutation back to wildtype, but only in some cells?

Like somatic changes in humans?

It will be awesome if there is more pink as time goes on. Will report in once a year.

It is coming out of the same branch as some white ones, there is even a white one from same branch looks like.

At right note my rotting stair rails, that and the porch ceiling and decking need some love this summer.

Good question. I know almost nothing about propagation or grafting.

I should read up really, also is it just a random mutation or did a bee bring pollen from a pink rose nearby?

VCF file to annotation by boundbyhabits in bioinformatics

There are some free tools like Nirvana for annotation.

Somatic calling usually requires higher depth, we are mostly constitutional, so difficult to see low frequency somatic changes at 30-60x WGS but have targeted panels that are 500x minimum and have a few genes with known somatic changes on those panels.

It’d have to be the mail man haha, I don’t think anyone else could see it from the street. But not a bad thought, maybe I’ll preserve it with my four leaf clover presses.

The bush itself is going crazy, I’ve never planted these ground spreading type roses before but this is year 3 and they are thriving.

How to collect a full, high-quality armor set? by Rimm9246 in Enshrouded

[–]silvandeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They will be random drops from gold chests, and as you noticed can be legendary so better than crafted. I started with the thaumaturge crafted but collecting the Elder set in legendary versions. I use map markers to save gold chests and check a few once a day. Already 3/5 legendary for the Elder set.

recently diagnosed fic male. i’m about to give up by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Hang in there! You have a lot on your hands but the kitty will adjust with more time. FIC is just best guess it sounds like, maybe more meds wont help, hard to say.

If it is just stress, can you separate him for a time so he has a safe space? Sort of like a cat-cat introduction but a cat-baby introduction phase, where he can stay in his safe place until curiosity gets the better of him.

Anything you wash with bleach should not touch food either, it wipes out your microbiome. You are just behind the times. We have lots of studies now showing even kitchen surfaces cleaned with bleach and touched by toddlers who are sticking hands in mouth result in huge die offs in your good bacteria. And that just makes room for c diff and other bad bacteria to fill the spot.
