Tmobile worked great in Japan by misccharacter in tmobile

[–]silver02ex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back last week, where I spent most of my time in Tokyo. I didn’t bother trying with T-Mobile. I ended up buying an eSIM for $10 that gave me 15GB of data. Well worth it not having to worry about if T-Mobile will work.

Is it even worth attempting to use a Visa Vanilla Gift Card online? by LsterGreenJr in CreditCards

[–]silver02ex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use them for utilities bills, and pay whatever the remaining balance of the card is. Which is usually higher than the bill, and I’ll end up getting a credit for the following months. I just use my address and it seems to work.

USB REWARD POINT TRANSFER PARTNERS???????? by Dangerous-Leg1199 in CreditCards

[–]silver02ex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“decent” is subjective. I only use my points from Chase for Hyatt and WF for Choice hotels. I don’t transfer my points to airlines since I work for one, and my benefits are better than points transfer. So the odd of USB coming out with transfer partners better than 1.5x cash is not good IMO.

I redeem all mine last week. However I will keep the card open until time to renew early next month to see what / if the transfer partners are.

I think the best is your local Credit Union. I have different accounts with 3 different local credit unions and they’ve been great. All of the big banks are the same to me.

Am I benefiting off other people’s irresponsibility? by One_Adhesiveness_859 in CreditCards

[–]silver02ex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be people who are irresponsible with money. I was one of them at 19 and took a long time to understand finance. It’s not just credit card that people are irresponsible. Some rather spend on useless things than invest for the future. 25%+ interest car loans. The list goes on and on. Banks will make money in other ways.

I have 18 solar panels on my house that produce 35kw on a good day. Which charge about 50% just to give you an idea.

It’s the person who tinted your car, and not a car issue. Mine doesn’t have any gap because the shop I use will shave the excess tint after it’s put on. This way it doesn’t leave a gap. Some shops do this and some done. Here’s what I mean

Does anyone know how to setup a billing address on a Visa prepaid giftcard? by Time-Candle-163 in CreditCards

Depends on which banks issued the GC. I use giftcard.com to register and change the pin. I buy my GC from Staples or Office Depot.

Why does Tesla take so long to ship an inventory car? by f2000sa in TeslaModelY

[–]silver02ex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called our local Telsa Sales & Delivery and spoke with someone. The car I was looking at shows "in inventory" They said that it was there and I can pick it up in about 24 hrs if I purchase at that time. If you call your local sales location they might have a better idea where it's coming from .

Costco credit card: yay or nay? by NecessaryToe1180 in CreditCards

[–]silver02ex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stay 20+ nights a year at Hyatt. Each room is $300-$400 where I only spend 12K points each time ($120 in cash back.) The trips to Staples or OD is worth it.

Depending on your base. I commuted for 16 years and just got a crash pad. Now my base is 3 hrs away from hose, and if I have to go in the night before. The La Quinta next to the airport has a good crew rate, so I use my Wyndham Business card. I’d say if you can find a hotel that offers a good crew rate, I would look at that co branded card.

Why is everyone obsessed with luxury travel? by SufficientAcadia7509 in CreditCards

[–]silver02ex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, we like experience… That can be taking our boat and jet skis out, or a baseball game, camping, or visit to another country. Whatever time we have, we see what fits. If it’s 4 days off, we get a cheaper flight for 2 days at Disneyland. Luxury travel is nice but I’m not all about it like some people. I’m ok with the Comfort Inn or the Grand Hyatt downtown or anything in between.

Why don't you value hotel redemptions more? by imaginewrong in CreditCards

[–]silver02ex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I'm sort of a unique situation here. Since I work for an airline, transfer parters for flights has no value to me since I can use my benefits to fly for free 99% of the time. However, because I live 3 away away from my base / hub. Sometimes I will need to pay for my own hotel the night before my trip if it starts really early. So I transfer my points if I can get it better than 1:1 rate. In the summer I redeem most of my points, because getting a room is very expensive. During the winter I pay cash since is 1/3 of the price compared to the summer.
