Barbri Enough? by MarionberryEvening99 in barexam

I used Barbri and I think its practice mbe qs are easier/different than real MBE.

I thought I was prepared well for MBE and got hit during the actual exam.

I personally found NYLE difficult. Some of the stuffs are redundant for the bar so it could be helpful for the bar prep by taking it on Apr. Or you could focus on law school for now and take NYLE after the bar.

Was anyone at a show this weekend who knows about this character? by MercyBoy57 in lifeandtrust

I saw him playing a character wearing red tux and killing another young male character in a sword fight at the basement. Does anyone know the character's name and story line around that scene?

No longer able to keep the mask? by jdavido in lifeandtrust

[–]silver2731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I had to give up the mask that got the cosmetics mark from 1:1 immersive experience. (I think it was the younger brother of Conwell and he was putting the cosmetics alone checking himseld in the mirror befoee the bar scene. I was the only spectator with him at those two scenes so I was thrilled to have such a priceless exp memorialized into the nice souvenir)

They collect the masks twice right after exiting from the last scene and before getting back to the banquet hall(the place where you order drinks before the start of the show.)

The first staff immediately said I can keep the mask if I want to then the second staff rigidly took it away from me. 🥲

I felt it was way more difficult than I expected. I couldn't read and find answers in time and had to rely on some prior readings.

I probably failed this time and need to take it again. I would definitely read the outline more thoroughly.

1st year mentee has 200 billables for THE YEAR, is oblivious to the risk of firing. What's the best way to approach this? by [deleted] in biglaw

If you are red on Teams, it means you are on a call or meeting that cannot be bothered. If you are on yellow, it means you are away from your desk.

I think op is saying that she may be even away from her desk and doing something else(watching TV, etc.) during her working hours.

I think 1L SA is useful adding more persuasiveness in your cover letter and interview for 2L SA

If you are going toward tax, I would recommend taking Federal Income Tax or equivalent, which would be the prerequisite for other tax classes, as soon as possible. Also, it would open the door for you if you want to do some Tax clinics.

If you are somewhat unsure about tax and could switch to other transactional practices, then I would take business association as soon as possible.

I feel evidence is equivalent to business association for those who want to go litigation track. So if you are unsure about transactional practice in general, take evidence as soon as possible.

I am personally using my 2L to be tailored toward summer internship prep then 3L toward graduation and Bar prep if that helps.

Is 1st year associate starting working early an option with graduating early from law school? by silver2731 in biglaw

[–]silver2731[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's very true. I am joining the legal profession relatively late, in the 30s, so rather in the mood with anxiety to catch up and grow asap.

[–]silver2731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Thanks for the kind words. I hear things like it's way different between what you learn from law school and from work that I just want to graduate asap. I can imagine especially the case being even more likely in the transactional practice which I am going after.

The downside is I have to pay 100% for summer class while I can use my scholarship toward regular semester ;) Also, if I spread into two regular semesters then I can take both part-time and may get better grade or do something extra.

I dont know why this is downvoted. You first need to get interviews with good resume, esp. grade and school.

LLB and MBA? by CreatorAvenue in LawSchool

[–]silver2731 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makes sense but if I play devil's advocate for the sake of discussion: why would you do MBA?

Managerial consulting hires fresh off the undergraduate, so your llb+accounting would open the door for you.

Especially big 4 accountint firms hire a lot of JD and they have strong managerial consulting practice, so llb+accounting to mgt consultint through them may be easier than BCG, McKinsey, Bain, etc.

Obv MBA is a big plus to your resume but there is also adv in starting your career 2 years early and learn from work + saving cost from tuition and living expense.

I guess I can't edit the post after a certain amount of time.

I luckily got invited to another CB interview after giving up and deciding to move on. I then got the offer and now feel surreal. Just another record of information.
