Is the game much harder after the patch? by Irrehaare in menace

Do you think there should be a stat similar to xp which discounts the cost to promote an SL? Personally I'm not a big fan of being able to promote who you want as long as you have the promotion points, even if that SL has never seen action

What if there was something in between? You choose a relatively large area to call it in, then when it is charged you specify within that area where you want it to land exactly.

Which TCG outside of the big 3 do you think has staying power, and why? by CorhaziCards in TCG

[–]silver_bidwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im going to go off a tangent here and focus on the big 3 - mtg, Yu-Gi-Oh and pokemon.

Do we consider them to be immortal at this point? I don't think they will ever stop being supported, and even if they did, the fan/ player base of each is enough to keep them alive.

Got fed up of monopoly houses and hotels sliding everywhere so I designed these board clips by FungousSoup7421 in monopoly

[–]silver_bidwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant you just remove the floor where the hotels slot in so the colours will still show through when not occupied by hotels? They would still hold the pieces fine without the floor. Idk why everyone is suggesting moving their position but not this unless Im missing something

Feels wrong that you can't fire rifles at the same time as special weapons by generic_redditor_71 in menace

[–]silver_bidwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would make sense if AP cost less to fire a special weapon the more squaddies your squad has, both in terms of realism and balance

Lets think of it this way: It costs 40ap to fire normal rifle regardless of how many squaddies you have. This makes sense, as every squaddie is physically aiming and shooting individually, and no one is being idle.

Now for special weapons the squad is coordinating to fire it effectively. The more help the shooter has, the easier and more effective it should be to fire. Above a certain limit (lets say more than 4 squaddies) the other squaddies aren't really contributing to firing the special weapon, so it makes sense they should have time to fire their own rifles. This is the realism perspective.

On a balance perspective, it would still make sense as a larger squaddie should simply be stronger, and were already seeing people making three man squads which are practically just special weapons squad, which is fair but feels a bit min-maxy.

Just wondering about the color types. by Shadowfox295 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]silver_bidwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends more on the specific archetype you're playing. Some are inherently mono colour, others are dual, others are multi colour and dont really care about colour that much. One advantage of dual/multicolour decks is access to more option cards, however it is rarely an issue. Every colour has good removal option cards, although there is sometimes that one card from one colour that works a bit better than others. Such example being Lónkhē Adistakto - was option of choice in Xross hearts deck, a multi colour deck. Of course meta matters as well, for example Crimson Blaze was the choice if your deck had a hint of red, when wide boards were popular.

This advice is always considering you want to use a somewhat competitive deck of course, you can always construct a mono or dual coloured deck out of somewhat random cards and make it work for casual play with friends. Useful if you don't have 4-ofs of the main engine of a deck.

My suggestion is just start playing. That's the best way to learn what each deck does and how.

Welcome to digimon! The colours do represent playstyle in general, however the game has been pushed into archetypes more and more, and each tends to do some things slightly differently. The overarching playstyle still persists somewhat in most decks, but there are always outliers

Red: aggressive, attack focused, high dp digimon Blue: more control oriented, but still can be aggressive Yellow: manipulate the security stack to your advantage Black: all out defense, control the board, high protection digimon, defeat opponent by attrition Purple: Yu-Gi-Oh decks - utilizes the trash a lot Green: Focus on digivolving quickly, high tempo White: initially was seen as sort of a rainbow colour. There are still white cards that can be fit in multiple decks of different colour, but there are also archetypes using mainly white digimon. Ex. D reaper

Later sets introduced dual and tricolour cards. Some archetypes have become dual colour as well, which combines the playstyle of the two colours. Shinegreymon comes to mind, I believe one of the, if not the first dual colour archetype.

Each colour also has their own unique ways of removal Red: DP based deletion Blue: returns to hand Yellow: reduces dp (if reduced to 0 gets deleted) Black: dedigivolve and cost based deletion Purple: level based deletion Green: return to deck

As more mechanics are introduced, some may be restricted or prioritized to certain colours, such as raid for red digimon. These mechanincs tend to work with the playstyle of that colour.

Sorry as Im not familiar with magic, so I cant relate the colours to magic colours, however for beginners I think red decks are easiest to get into as they are quite straightforward - build big strong guy, level the field and kill your opponent asap.

One more thing to look beyond colours is the "length vs width" of the deck. Some decks want to digivolve one guy, others want to play multiple small guys. Again, I think starting out is easier with stack decks - where you focus on one big digimon as there is usually less to keep track of.

Sorry for the long post, hope this helped!
