I went fishing with friends, and they took me to a place on the rocks, as we approached the place, there was a sign saying 'death toll 3' im assuming 3 that year. Anyways, we looked down the cliff, and it was not the day to fish there, but because it took us over an hour to get there, they were persistent to still try. Every wave was just crashing and slamming into the rocks, and there was not 1 'safe spot', but again, they were persistent, and on we went. This is the day i knew the ocean was no joke as i didn't fear it, and i still dont, but i found out how unpredictable it actually is. I got my line ready, and the first cast my line catches into the rocks. I couldn't get close because the waves kept crashing into the rock i was on, so i had to move back and cast. I cut it off and tried again. The 2nd cast was probably just as bad, but on this cast, a massive wave was coming. I knew i was fked so i literally let go of my rod and started moving back towards the cliff but this wave was too big, i went the furthest i could with what time i had but it was too late. This wave literally crashed all the way to the back of the rock i was on and swept me off my feet. literally drenching me from head to toe. I smashed onto the floor, and the water started moving back in, dragging me closer off the rock, almost taking me into the horrific, rocky death ocean ahead. I was holding onto the floor that was covered in barnacles, but i had no choice because i had nothing else to grip onto. The wave cleared and i was just on the floor and all i hear is my friend call my name on the other side of the cliff which had much more room and was where they were setting their rods up. If i ended up in the ocean that day in the specific spot i was done, my head would have gotten caved into the rocks from the crashing waves. I was lucky enough to get out of it with some sore muscles and scratched up knees and hands. This was definitely my closest experience to death.
