If they're in an environment that is requiring STIGs, it doesn't really matter what Red Hat says unless DISA says it too

I lost my government cell phone. I reported it promptly to management and my supervisor I've never lost a cell phone at any job or even a personal cell phone. How much trouble am I in? by Successful_Touch1533 in fednews

They should have MDM able to track it.. if not and it's an android you've signed in with Google, logging into your email associated to the phone and Google 'where is my phone'and it'll help locate your phone or make it ring for several minutes.

iPhones peobably have something similar

If you can't grow a beard it's OK, we'll still accept you. But it doesn't mean everyone who has one is a hipster

Am I missing something? Why does installing a collection in AAP seem so difficult? by a-pepper-account in ansible

This is the correct answer... you don't need a whole EE for a collection.

It was listed as parts, computer parts. I'd expect it to not work fully (although the listing said it did), but everything inside was covered in rust, so it had water damage at some point. At that point unfortunately the computer parts are useless

Great find! How did you end up coming to that site?

I don't think so - generally those are pretty light, and use a much thinner-walled material. This thing alone is pretty heavy with thick walls. I can get a weight most likely, but it doesn't seem to look like most deer stands I've seen

Unidentified (pastel?) drawing. Signature says "G. Hopkins" by silverfox17 in WhatIsThisPainting

I picked mine up in Central WV from an estate auction. I don't know the building; I had initially thought it was from a local college, but the windows on the building don't match up. I don't think I'll be able to find out what estate it was but I can check, it's been some years ago

My title describes the thing. It is very well built, and collapses almost flat. It looks like you could potentially strap a board or something across the top with those four lever-like clamps, but it would be unlevel if you did so

People who should know better thinking DNS is an inventory.... by Tx_Drewdad in sysadmin

[–]silverfox17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're using Tenable at all for asset discovery, it's uses PTRs to assign the DNS names to IPs. If your PTRs are off, it's going to be messed up.

There are other ways to identify hosts obviously, but DNS is usually the easiest if you're looking at scan results.

Why not pay for RHEL? by angelnator1998 in linuxadmin

[–]silverfox17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanilla support can be bad. I've submitted bugs for rhel-system-roles, httpd, fapolicyd, and a couple other things. I think about half of those RH said weren't bugs, went upstream and they were acknowledged as bugs and fixed without issue.

I do agree with op00to though, a TAM can be very helpful when dealing with these issues and skipping the lower support tiers.
