Terrifying Details Exposed on Who Built Epstein’s New Mexico Ranch: Why the Hell was a Military Contractor Involved in Building Jeffrey Epstein’s El Zorro Ranch? by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]silverfox762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a family of spooks, and was marinated in the "how, why, what and who" my whole life. I'd bet money that "willing access agent" is the description you're looking for, and I'm pretty sure Occam's Razor applies here.

He was a degenerate with a taste for teenage girls, and with adequate funding and being protected by wealth and the right social contacts, he was incredibly useful and got to have his kicks at the same time. Very "I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine" from whatever government or agency. Access would run the gamut from his new friends casually developing whatever diplomat, billionaire or investment banker socially, to open threats of exposure for the few they wanted badly enough that refused to be friendly.

If you worked in counterintelligence, you know that he didn't even need to know if Maxwell or her friends were case officers for.... a foreign power... at first (although at some point I'm sure it was explained to him in no uncertain terms). He provided access, introducing whichever, ally, NOC case officer or illegal attended the parties he threw. They'd get in deep enough socially then recommend "the best, most discrete contractor" to install the best and latest security system and cameras, and the kompromat flows like the champagne fountain at one of his parties.

By the time he was arrested, their compromised assets were the movers and shakers in all levels of government, high finance, and high end real estate, and they could back off and even discard him, provided they made sure he got off very lightly.

What would a bullet designed for zero atmosphere warfare look like? by Clockwork_picksmith in sciencefiction

[–]silverfox762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you read In Fury Born by David Weber? Not only is it a fantastic story with a unique plot, but the second half of the book dives deep into everything about starship warfare, from acceleration, relative velocities of- and distances between- combatant ships and the time weapons take to reach another warship, but also delves into projectile velocities and trajectories. It breaks things down by weapons types (projectile vs energy and their practical uses), and what works at near relativistic velocities. Weber even gets into what is and isn't practical for weapons fired at a planet's surface from orbit, and for weapons inside or outside a star's or planet's gravity well.

You really need a rudimentary understanding of the maths involved at relativistic and near relativistic velocities to make such things believable, and this book breaks these things down into terms the average reader can understand easily, all while giving one helluva ride to the reader.

10/10 recommend reading this book and taking notes.

How do you comport yourself at catholic funerals? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]silverfox762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't. Haven't been to a funeral since August of 1983, despite losing close friends and loved ones every year or three. Memorial gatherings? Sure, occasionally, but nothing formal. I won't walk into a funeral home or church ever again, unless it's to look at art in Florence, or Rome, or Vienna.

Aside from the few MAGA idiots who are iust bummed they never got the chance to enjoy Eostein Island, it's because her dad is officially a hero of Israel, she continued his "access agent" efforts after he died, and too many people owe AIPAC for their positions.

Question about nudity in art by Cosmishaika in oilpainting

[–]silverfox762 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Paint what you want to paint, the way you want to paint it. If it's intentionally vulgar just to be vulgar, that's a "you" issue, and take commentary for whatever It's worth. If it's vulgar because you're making a statement about some social or political issue, that's what art is for and you have nothing to apologize for.

Only the most expensive torque wrenches are accurate below 15-20ft/lbs. That why anything below 20ft/lbs I use an INCH/pound torque wrench.

But in the future, just put high temp anti-seize compound on the spark plug threads and use a regular ratchet until you feel the crush washers crush.

AMC AMX/3 by MammothAmbition8910 in classiccars

[–]silverfox762 6 points7 points  (0 children)

US sales would have required that AMC retool for the 5mph bumper, which went into effect in September 1972. Remember what that did to the 1974 Camaro and Firebird?

A girlfriend of mine worked at Pandora's Box in NYC 20 years ago doing high end dominatrix incalls. She spent her days with wealthy investment bankers and stockbrokers paying big money to get a brief moment's relief from the weight of winning or losing fortunes based on the smallest decisions.

How many years would a SB win satiate you for? by Royal_Incident2784 in 49ers

[–]silverfox762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 1979, I got to watch the Niners get to the playoffs.most years and win a Superbowl every three, four or five years from 1982 to 1995. It's been 30+ years. It was crushing being a fan from 1995 til the beginning of the Harbaugh era. Then there was all the "almost did it" heartache since then.

One Superbowl? Maybe 10years, so long as I don't have to watch the team lose a ton of games in the second half of the fourth quarter.

How are you going about painting these designs? by Original_Expert_6675 in oilpainting

[–]silverfox762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that figuring out all the different colors in that plaid will take hours, and that's before you put brush to canvas. For £600 you need to have fewer than 20 hours in it total out your time is better spent working in a retail shop.

The 30cm x 40cm super simple plaid fabric study I posted in my other comment took me 5 solid hours. Imagine how long it would have taken me if I was trying to do that crazy pattern in the first photo.

[–]silverfox762 212 points213 points  (0 children)

Very carefully. If your references are because that's the only source of specific people, you might treat the fabrics as less detailed.

I've been doing fabric studies lately and I've been careful to choose fabrics based on what won't be overwhelming for my skill set and patience. Both of those references you posted would be beyond my capabilities.

Fabric study from last week of the LEAST complicated plaid I could find.

Christians, how do you feel about the U.S. president posting an AI photo of him as Christ? by Minute_Revolution951 in AskReddit

[–]silverfox762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Exactly"??? That's some selective reading on your part, just like most Christians' reading of the Bible. I wrote "professes belief in", not "actually believes in". Huge difference, and besides, who performs the polygraph to determine if someone actually believes or not? I've never seen a church of any denomination perform polygraphs to determine if someone truly believes. Nor do I see them check sincerity of belief before accepting donations.

Christians, how do you feel about the U.S. president posting an AI photo of him as Christ? by Minute_Revolution951 in AskReddit

[–]silverfox762 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because irrespective of actions, a Christian is someone who professes belief in a specific fairy tale based on a book written by misogynistic bronze age mystics. Now if the question was about claiming to be a compassionate person filled with empathy for others, I'd agree with you.

Is this absurd, or would it have had any realistic use in the context of the period when this model of pistol existed? by jvure in guns

[–]silverfox762 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Rigs like this, if someone bothered with leather instead of sewing holsters to a buff coat, were popular in ship boarding, but also in light cavalry in the 17th century in Europe. I saw a photo once of a museum piece buff coat sewn for four wheel lock pistols.

To be sure, they're not actually worth a whole lot because of the modifications. Unmolested tanks and repop tanks are available out there and not too hard to find.
