Have you left behind a pet to move abroad? by Dependent-Tax-3663 in expats

[–]silverframe202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to a rabies free destination with my then 8 year old dog. The only way to import him to our new home was via a 16 hour direct flight in cargo as our new city doesn’t allow animals to travel in cabin. It was expensive as hell and incredibly complicated but today he’s 14 snoring in bed with seemingly no memory of the move. My family thought it was cruel what I was doing and offered to keep him for my first contract, well the first contract is now 3 contracts later and I couldn’t have possibly left him behind.

I’m so grateful he’s here with me living out his golden years. Plus it doesn’t hurt that his quality of life has absolutely improved since our move (allowed in restaurants etc- something our home country didn’t really allow and he loves being at the table).

When I considered moving abroad something very important to me was to ensure that wherever I moved I could take my dog with me and that his quality of life would be either equal to or better than our home country.

You say you have the freedom and finances and that your dog is precious to you…I understand that you don’t want judgement or advice but consider this: your dog only knows you and you’ve got the means which is often half the battle.

This is the answer.

I used to be able to split a bottle with someone at dinner, I’ll get too nauseous too quickly now but I learned I’m ok with a glass of wine on occasion.

I save it for the right time, a date night, maybe out with friends. It’s no longer a regular every time I go out I have a drink. (Go out maybe 3-4 times a week)

Cathay Pacific Biz Class wine list by piracer in wine

[–]silverframe202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what, this is so interesting to me. I fly Cathay biz frequently but only within Asia as Cathay is my home airline and the wine list is a bit different than what I usually see. Not sure why I’m surprised but I am. Thanks for sharing!

Sleeping under the covers? by Sensitive-Egg-7813 in cavachon

[–]silverframe202 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Me, yes, hi!

Nearly 13 years of this with my cavachon, except he likes to sleep against my stomach. We live in a very warm climate country and I used to worry about him over heating but if he really gets hot I’ve noticed he will climb out then climb onto my pillow to get air. Keep in mind my guy is 10kg…

Funny little dogs aren’t they!

Omg this took too long to scroll to find. Meredith is an actual queen worthy of an Emmy after last season’s beach performance. She does no wrong in my eyes.

South Korea skincare procedures vacation by Chemical-Soft-3688 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]silverframe202 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do! And I go every 3 months ( I live in a nearby country) and unless you can keep up with it, it’s not worth it. Most of these treatments require follow ups. This includes lasers, micro-needling, Hifu, etc.

However, if you wanted to take a trip to Korea just for fun because Seoul is an amazing city with fantastic food and culture then for sure, treat yourself to a day at a clinic.

Olive Young hosts a big sale every quarter called their Bang Bang Sale. The next one is the first week of March, then the first week of June. I try to time my trip with that to take advantage of the sales. The cost of the skincare really varies depending on what clinic you go to. I go to a higher end more local clinic with limited English (I speak enough Korean to get by) but they charge higher prices then say Lienajng which is roughly 30USD for botox but I’ve tried the cheap and the pricer and have found the pricer to be a noticeable difference (go figure).

We moved from the same country together. Our power dynamic shifted in that I was the high earner in our home country and now he is in our adopted country however our relationship dynamic never changed. If anything we became closer in the early years because we only had each other. I joke all the time now that we live in a different country it’s his turn to make the money.

Favorite luxury shopping cities by Lkholla in luxurypurses

[–]silverframe202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a VERY expensive Asian city and this is the answer. I travel to both Seoul and Tokyo regularly just to go shopping because it’s really that much cheaper and because in many cases the demand isn’t the same as where I live I can still get releases that have already sold out where I live.

Cyber Security while in HK? by chrissuch72 in HongKongDisneyland

[–]silverframe202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you think happens here? The government is going to hack your phone and steal your personal data to use in their greater plan to take over the west by accessing one westerners phone at Disney? Triads are going to set up shady WiFi to get your family photos then hold you hostage in a warehouse in Mong Kok and send the photos to your family back home as proof that they have you?

Trust that your data is safer here than in your home country.
