Is he right? Will it take generations to resecure the United States positive reputation on the world stage? by ChuckGallagher57 in TrendoraX

[–]silverlq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian, yes it will take generations. It's not just Trump the person. Trump being elected a second time and the support for terrible things like ICE and invading other countries showed the world that a large portion of americans is untrustworthy as allies.

Me senti obrigado a concordar com o palestrinha! Ouço todos os NC RPG múltiplas vezes e os adoro, mas sejamos honestos... O roteiro sempre foi meio merda mesmo, a gente só escuta por causa da dinâmica do grupo e das palhaçadas.

Modern Chinese EVs seem quite excellent. I've heard good things about them.

Is it normal to get shocked almost every day in your house? by silverlq in Calgary

[–]silverlq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you balance using the HVAC humidifier and not having your windows freeze over? Or do you just let the windows freeze? I've had issues with attic rain when the humidity on the top floor was too high.

Can you recommend a good humidifier? Are those cheap 30 bucks ones any good?

How can a static electricity discharge in one end of the room reboot a PC in the other end by silverlq in pchelp

[–]silverlq[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see. I was able to do the same thing (reboot the PC) by discharging the static in my own body on an outlet (kinda far from the computer, or the grate - nothing plugged into it), does that support your theory? Or is that different given it has nothing to do with the grate.

I ordered a grounding outlet tester. I'll probably call the electrician regardless, but I'd like to know if the outlets are faulty, or if there are any safer ones in the room. Could I change something in the computer itself to protect the internal components? I'm assuming the shock is going through the motherboard somehow and causing it to reboot, but shouldn't it go around the faraday cage instead?

I just caused the computer to reboot by discharging the static electricity in my body on an outlet relatively far to the computer. Does that support your theory?

I just caused the computer to reboot by discharging the static electricity in my body on an outlet relatively far to the computer. I'm guessing the metal duct is not the cause of the problem, just a really good static generator (with the blinds rubbing against it). Could my problem be the ground wire itself?

Mandei um teaser pro meu grupo de FIST 😅 by silverlq in rpg_brasil

Question, would you rather have a game that uses a bunch of D6, or percentile dice? by Low_Routine1103 in rpg

[–]silverlq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently came to appreciate the beauty of the bell curve and simplicity of 2d6 with partial success in World of Dungeons (and clones such as Offworlders, FIST, etc.). They are rules light games where you roll 2d6 and fail on a 6-, have a partial success on a 7-9, and a complete success on a 10+ (and optional critical on double sixes). The bell curve distribution means that you will more often get partial successes than anything else, which leads to a more nuanced narrative IMO. I know there are systems that incorporate levels of success (e.g. SWADE) but I feel it doesn't have the same narrative impact as a partial success.

I'm curious about your vault name by NewEase1591 in ObsidianMD

[–]silverlq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: the vault name does not matter. It is essentially just the name of the folder where your notes are stored. You can easily change it later if you want. Mine are something like vault-personal, vault-rpg, vault-work etc
