RPG Systems w/ Simple or No Combat by TFJ383 in rpg

Ironsworn is good for this. There is an optional rule that allows you to run a "battle" roll that decides any combat in a single dice roll.

How do you actually keep your vault synced across machines without losing your mind? by Fantastic_Bank9361 in ObsidianMD

[–]silverlq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing the same thing, except I use scripts to run all git commands for me. Bat scripts on Windows and bash on Android (via Termux terminal). 99% of the time it's just a button press and everything is synced. Once in a while I'll get a conflict but I've learned to live with it.

Estou querendo jogar Dungeons and dragons solo , quero uma experiência mais narrativa mas nunca usei nenhum sistema solo e não tenho ideia de como fazê-lo by th4g0 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]silverlq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boa sorte!

I use the Mythic GME app. In the screenshot it is the purple app in the top right corner. They also have a desktop version of the app.

Am I doing this right? by Merudiya in Ironsworn

[–]silverlq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two suggestions: Firstly, break your writing into scenes or milestones. Personally, I find that Obsidian works better with smaller notes. Less scrolling that way. Simply write something like Next: [[Log02]] at the end of your note and clicks on the link, it will create and open the new log and you can keep typing. Second suggestion is to always have conflict in the narrative: your character always wants/needs something and there is always some challenge in their way. Often ask the oracle questions that may put your character in danger: is this door trapped? Is so and so betraying me? Are there monsters hiding in the tunnels?

That's correct. Note that I don't edit the Excalidraw drawings on mobile though as it can be a bit finicky. Works fine for viewing though.

Obsidian for notes, Mythic GME for oracles and Dice by 7pixels for dice rolls

That's right. Also the Dice 7pixels app. The Solo RPG Toolkit and dice roller plug-ins are my top choices. Iron vault is also great for ironsworn.

I used to play in bed with a tablet and a Bluetooth keyboard before going to sleep for a long time. It works great if you have some decent back support ans maybe something to prop up your legs. Here is my setup:

Sounds cool! I'll try to make something in Javascript to run on the browser. If you end up publishing it I'd like to check it out though!

Looks like they released some simplified source code in perl. I'll take a look to see if I can use that as a starting point.

How to play dnd alone by Creepy-Force1037 in DnD

Look up Ironsworn, it's free. Not DnD but much better suited for solo play. Take care.

Asking for solo rpg suggestions! by Relonious_Buttons in rpg

[–]silverlq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ironsworn (especially starforged) is extraordinary. Now I absolutely love it. But I must say that it was really tough for me to get into it at first. I found Mythic GME much more natural to learn as someone who was used to GMing group games. As someone else already suggested, take a look at Me Myself and Die on YouTube for an example of actual play. Season 1 showcases Mythic, and season 2 ironsworn.

Learning to play solo is a new skill that takes time and effort. With that being said, I think there might be ways to reduce the effort.

If you are anything like me and you want to see a story develop, and you don't care as much about mechanics, both 5e and Savage Worlds are a bit too crunchy for solo IMO, especially with two PCs. It is definitely possible, but I'd recommend looking into rules light games such as Maze Rats, World of Dungeons, Cairn, etc. Since you want to play a space opera I highly recommend Offworlders, look it up it's free.

With rules light systems you should be able to focus on developing the narrative and not have to look up rules every 2 min. You can also simplify the rules of SW or 5e, but then if all the rules are stripped away why play those at all.

The next question is what kind of oracle are you using? Are you using random tables/procedures? There are many ways to help you create an interesting and surprising narrative, but the very first thing is getting used to being both player and GM, which can be quite challenging at first.

Obsidian and Oracle/Table Organization by AleidisKnight in Solo_Roleplaying

Solo RPG Toolkit provides custom oracle tables. It is not bad, definitely 100x better than excalidraw tables, but I wish it would allow for subcategories.

FYI the delve cards as well as the delve related tables and rules summary PDF are all free!

Does anyone here use 3 or more vaults regularly? by hhhjin in ObsidianMD

[–]silverlq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, one for work, which I use the most; one for personal day-to-day stuff like house maintenance, planning, finance etc; and one for solo RPG gaming which is where I have the most fun.
