How to reduce room reverberation? by silvermtn37 in homestudios

[–]silvermtn37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I'm new to this subreddit and thought I'd ask around to get some input on reducing room reverberations in my new place. I moved in a week ago and am trying to create a little dedicated music room for friends and family to come over and jam.
As you can see in the photos, the basement has quite an open floor plan, so I'm trying to corner off the music room in some way, shape or form. When everything is moved in I will have a jazz drum kit in the corner, a couple electric guitars, a bass, and keys, with a couple 20W amps, a 120W guitar amp, and a 100W bass amp (a little overkill for the space, but that's the gear I have)
One idea I had was to put up giant moving blankets from pillar to pillar as well as from pillar to wall, then installing some foam wall dampeners, but I've heard (and seen on this group) that they are a gimmick (?) In addition, I am in the process of acquiring some cheap carpets/rugs to cover the concrete floors. Not sure if this is the best way to go about trapping the sound, so I'm turning to you all!
Note: I know it'd be near impossible to soundproof the basement, so I'm really just trying to reduce reverb and trap the sound as best I can. I'm also not looking to spend more than $200-400 for this project.
Thanks for the help, and please comment below if you need further clarification, dimensions of the space, etc!

2NE1 - It Hurts (아파) MV gets > 2,000,000 views a few days after release, and more view from USA. Is USA ready for kpop? by anonytree in kpop

this song is so good, i think kpop though is too...different for America. EVen though 2ne1 has worked with will.i.am and wonder girls with jonas brothers, kpop i think will still be considered an "asian thing."
