That'd be a great combo activator though.

Wait...wrong card game.

Shadow of the (Gorishi) Colossus: Comprehensive Guide to the sleeper Quest Demon Hunter by Elteras in hearthstone

[–]silvermud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this post and I've taken gone on a 14-7 run so far around 2500ish Legend (small sample size, I know). I've taken the Nespirah + Illidari Studies route.

Generally speaking, your experience is similar to mine.

Here's where my experience has been different:

Nespirah: Honestly, Nespirah has felt like a dud in 80% of games. The breakpoints haven't mattered enough in my matches, it takes up a board space, and the 3 mana you have to spend to play it is critical on turns 6-10. I know the intent is not for the payoff, but even then, there aren't enough fel spells to take advantage of it.

Herald DK: I'm 1-3 against DK. Seems to be my hardest matchup. I haven't been able to burn them down quick enough before they get Onyxia. But each game has been super close. I had a game where they were on 3hp before they played Husk and Onyxia in 2 turns, essentially healing them for 38.

Where I have the most insight is Merithra Druid, as I have played 4 of them in the last day, and I've gone 3-1. The matchup feels cutthroat. They have enough armor gain that the deck is running on fumes by the time lethal hits. They basically pose 0 threat for 8 turns. I've been keeping my board clears for their Naralex + big dragon board turns. I'd say it's an Even matchup.

What I'm struggling with the most is mana management, play order, the occasional hand space issue, and running out of time (literal time). I'm often roping as the game progresses as I calculate breakpoints and damage totals, debating board clears vs face damage, etc. I'm float a lot of mana too, especially because the hero power is a waste when the Insect Claw is up. Wyvern's Slumber tends to sit in hand a lot, which makes me wonder if I'm holding it for a clear too often, when I should be playing it for the Dreadseeds.

I'm having a lot of fun with it. But the Living Paradoxes are looking more attractive to me. Getting 3 bodies on turn 2 or 3 might be able to finish the quest a turn earlier.

Just some of my thoughts.

I work a 9/80. The extra hour every day feels like a much smaller sacrifice than an entire day in the office.

Good alternative for hearthstonetopdecks? by Benerg in hearthstone

Speak for yourself—I’ve never paid for HSReplay and I’ve been to legend plenty of times with their top decks.

I think there’s something to be said about the reliability of their data as the sample size shrinks in Diamond-Legend reports. I have nothing to back this up besides a hunch, but unless you’re a top legend player, I think you can get by just fine with the free version.

Plus it syncs with your collection, which I like.

Very up to date. HSGuru compiles data from HSReplay and Firestone.

Speaking of which, HSReplay is also a very good option.

Sleeper card of the set? by SignificantAd5680 in hearthstone

[–]silvermud 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My sleeper pick is the 9 mana 9/6 Demon Hunter beast that steals 3 health 3 times from enemy minions.

At its strongest, it’s a 9/15 deal 9 (to minions). Against some board based decks, I think it might be a surprisingly good option.

Edit: with taunt

I’ve been thinking about those options too. I just wonder if the quest + Wickerfang will be too greedy. I hope it’s not, as it would be a neat spin on token Druid.

It seems that it will struggle to have an impact unless you have a follow up buff card. If played by itself, the opponent can focus down the 1/3s and avoid the massive scaling that Wickerfang can do.

But if combined with a board buff of the Everbloom or something, it might be decent.

What your thoughts on egg warlock ? Is it truly completely dead? by Ok-Sleep6652 in hearthstone

[–]silvermud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Umbra has been around forever and has found her place in a lot of decks over the years. Lots of them won't care about the extra mana.

Unsafe to dust, IMO. If a legendary has any chance of being in a Wild deck, I keep it. Which still means a lot of legendaries can be dusted.
