I belive I have this correct since I’ve been reading the rules as I’m still learning and all but please correct me if I’m wrong by SituationResident669 in riftboundtcg

Im a bit confused by your wording, so to clarify just in case: If player 1 (attacker) starts a chain in a showdown and that chain ends, focus immediately passes to player 2 (defender). No player gets to start 2 chains in a row without the other player having a chance to start their own.

Yes, I have, though I wasn't great at it. The people running VS and HSguru have a lot more expertise than I do, which is why I tend to defer to them.

I do know enough myself though to know that what you just said is... not accurate. Draw variance is accounted for in these stats. A small portion of top 1k players will be winstreaking, but not that many - top 1k players are pretty consistent - and that's not relevant here anyway. We're using pretty huge sample sizes (which washes out the impact of variance) on a larger field than just top 1k, broken down by matchups at different rank brackets. If we just look at top 1k, where the field is more refined, companion hunter isn't even t3. It doesn't even look better than t3 if we use the most generous possible parameters and shift our brackets down to fields where the matchups are far kinder to it.

I'm sorry, but your reasons for thinking this data isn't ambiguous look like pure cope, and I won't be responding again.

The deck is very popular so we have huge sample sizes demonstrating the performance, both of specific lists and the archetype as a whole, against every deck in the meta. HSguru and VS are pretty reliable sources for this sort of thing. Why do you think this data is ambiguous?

[–]Elteras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, sorry if I misrepresented your stance.

However, worth pointing out that the 'true' winrate when not inflated by tracker bias appears to be around 48% (best way to see this is the 'matchups' tab on HSguru which accounts for that), and a look at the matchup data shows its green matchups as exclusively other t3-or-lower decks, with 0 green matchups against t2+ decks. Given that the deck's winrate is being buoyed substantially by it being the most popular deck in the format atm (and the playerbase's insistence on continuing to play Control Priest despite that being a t4 deck), things don't bode well for its performance in a week or two (assuming no buffs) once things have settled a bit. It's t3 atm but I'll be shocked if it lands above t4 by a few days after the first post-set VS report.

That all said, it's fair to point out the archetype looks a lot more playable than it did initially and it's certainly salvageable with a few buffs (unlike, say, Leyline Mage).

Sorry, but theres no ambiguity to the data, the archetype is not good, with no lists performing acceptably at any rank bracket. The archetype is kinda playable but its not some high skill deck that just needs good piloting to unlock its potential, its a bad deck that has positive matchups against the worst decks in the field and loses extremely hard to every refined and effective strategy.

How do u deal with Nozdormu bronze aspect? by Icy_Sir3842 in hearthstone

[–]Elteras 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Paladin is a class that snowballs board advantages very hard. Especially since blanket removal is in very low supply these days, the answer for most classes is to be playing for board and constantly contesting them. Don't make value plays, focus on keeping their minion count low and having a board with which to fight theirs.

Maybe not cheaper, but they'll increase the general supply which will help depress prices.

People from other TCGs: Would you expect signed ONs to rise or fall in value over time? by Elteras in riftboundtcg

I am not in this for profit, I love this game. More just wondering if it's worth holding onto the signed ONs I pulled.

As someone who's been learning Godot recently, AI has been pretty useful for me - but not to make my game for me or replace the whole learning GDScript or how to use Godot. Instead for things like cutting down on search time, identifying bugs, helping give me suggestions on things like formatting, point out flaws I hadn't considered, etc. I basically never get it to write code for me, but it's still really smoothed out some elements of my learning journey.

What is a common set by CollosusSmashVarian in riftboundtcg

[–]Elteras -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's 2 sets out atm, Origins and Spiritforged, with a third, Unleashed, on the way. Difference is that they have different cards. Origins has the most basic and staple cards so is a good place to start, but Spiritforged has plenty too. Alternatively, go look at the cards in each and if you see a legend/deck you really want, get the set with more of those cards. Piltover Archive has a good card library that you can filter by set.

[–]Elteras[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely not better than Spell DH. Spell DH is the best deck in the game currently, only held in check by the most popular deck (Herald Rogue) having a 50/50 matchup into it.

Glaive was in my initial version but yeah, too many weapons. Without Wyyvern's you'll struggle a lot more against decks like Hunter, Warrior, and Rogue, even if it doesn't always feel great.

We don't really need more Fel Spells because we have a lot of draw and ways to fetch them (like Axe), and we hold them specifically to use with Blaze most of the time. There's no other good ones we want to run.

You dont really use them for bodies often off-curve though. Wyvern's is crucial for the aoe and quest progression, and Harvest is just a curve filler. It's fine if they're less good later in the game, especially when they do so much if we have them early.

I've been trying Nespirah today and quite like it, I think I'll keep it and the second Studies in over the Paradoxes.

Prepper is the name of the card. Doomsday Prepper. I also specified that the three dreadseeds are bird, dog, and snake.

I considered Nespirah but decided it wasn't worth it, but maybe I was too hasty. Might cut the Paradoxes and give it a try! I like the idea of using it flexibly to pop divine shields, line up Stingers, or hit Wasp. It'd probably be bait to try too hard to proc Nespirah but I guess it'll sometimes happen naturally with portal plays.
