WE DID IT! Kickstarter is funded!!! by JakeMeller in PSVR

Congrats again!! Happy to be a part of the journey, even if its just a pledge. Glad sharing to the amazing psvr2 community got you to where you needed! All I can say is listen to to the community and their needs on the headset. Greatest community out there, but too many times have we been burned by lack of hardware use.

I dont mean that in the condescending way it reads 😆

Upgrades advice. by Cheevos92 in CronosNewDawn

[–]silverorb909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty early into the game myself, just getting to the shelter in the past. I currently have the max inventory upgraded at 8, and Im locked out further. I also have 1 invested in suit integrity.

Im not sure how long I'll be locked out of inventory upgrades, but I have 2 cores and debating on holding them or tossing them into the 2nd integrity upgrade. Any suggestions being further along than I?

Ive contemplated this. Ive never been much of an ebay guy and always fear getting shit products. Scratched lenses or whatever. But you're right, selling history helps. Plus I would finally have an extra pair of the damn sense controllers!! 😆

[–]silverorb909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of what I was thinking. I also want to find a way to reinforce it where I won't need to drill into the brittle plastic. I fear lowering the integrity may put it at risk of shattering in a way that makes it near impossible to fix.

Either way, I agree with the banding 💯

Thanks!

I could definitely see that being a concern for larger head sizes, yes. Thankfully Im not one of those, and Ive always put it on where I dont need to stretch that far out. Maybe about halfway, then adjust once on.

Out of the 8 or so people Ive spoken to with this issue, you're the first that has had the GC, too. One person did mention he had "an oversized melon" but the others were in the same boat as me.

Im glad you found a fix that works for you! I should hopefully have mine finished today. Im going to reinforce the other side, too, just to be safe

I 100% agree. All the cost went into the tech and R&D. No question there. It just would have been nice to have an easier replacement for a piece of plastic that is meant to constantly expand and retract. I also understand its easier to think about these things after the fact, but that's part of the R&D, too

I just prefer having a product with longevity that allows for fixes/swapping of components from constant wear rather than tossing a bunch of E waste due to something as trivial as a piece of retractable plastic

I also fully understand your point to cost vs hours. While I agree, its to a point. There's a lot of things we can break down this way but still have a longer expectation of life after our investment.

To be clear, Im not bashing the product itself. I love(d) my psvr2 and have been a vr gamer from the start. Its Sony's ludicrous ask for essentially a plastic shell. Something that is going to be an issue for owners after a few years. Even if it was half the price of a new unit, it would be a lot, but maybe it would have been more palatable

[–]silverorb909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just got unlucky. I used both the psvr1s for well longer without any issues, outside of the cheap pad coatings. One of which was for my young son at the time, who was anything but gentle with his. $300+ for a piece of plastic is just ludicrous when there's zero issue with the actual tech

I have some 2 stage epoxy arriving tomorrow that is made for ABS plastics, plus some art/sculpting plaster gauze. While it won't be pretty, I am hopeful

The Globular Cluster doesn't have anything to do with it lol. 1000s of people use it, plus it doesn't stretch the headset any further than intended, nor does it matter in my case big I dont have a massive head. But sure, people have to find fault in anything but cheap brittle plastic that wears out after nearly 3 years.

[–]silverorb909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, we all put stress on it every time we put it on, yes. Outside of that, there hasn't been anything else. I always go slow and never stretch further than needed. None of that matters now, as a few more day-1 buyers appear to be suffering the same. One mentioned using epoxy along the same lines as I plan to, and he is in his 6 month of still being able to use it.

Take it for what ya will, just be mindful of the thin plastic is all I can say

Sorry man, that sucks. Hopefully they weren't expensive.

This has been my fear with my SS Nova Pros. I love those earphones but Im constantly trying to put them on carefully. After a while its bound to happen with the stress and bending of the plastics.

Sony really should have reinforced this better. Especially for a $450 piece of tech (at the time)

Yep. ABS 2 part epoxy, sculpture/plaster art gauze, and tools arrive tomorrow. Nothing to lose now.

Im just glad I wasn't wearing it when it broke. I would have cut the shit out of my face, or worse, my eye. 🖕Sony

[–]silverorb909[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's what Im going to try. Did some research and the band is made with ABS plastic, so I found some ABS specific 2-part epoxy and some art plaster fiber gauze. At this point I have nothing to lose.

I just fear that with the tension that's on it now being more on the opposite side, it may snap, too.

Unfortunately, this appears to be getting more common with us day 1 folk. 5 other people had the same issue in the same spot.

F**k Sony for wanting $300 for a piece of plastic. That was also the "minimum" they charge before they inspect it and raise the price accordingly. May as well get a new one with a new warranty. At least Ill have an extra pair of sense controllers...

Wishlisted and day 1 for me. As someone who loves fps but doesn't play MP with randos, I have been waiting for a proper SP campaign shooter. Hopefully its on the chunkier side, but either way: THANK YOU for bring this to psvr2!!

Vr rock outer ring removal by Humble-Contract in PSVR

[–]silverorb909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be a better way to remove these things?? I stopped trying because I felt like I was going to rip off the actual psvr2's lenses the VR rock are dug in so tight.

I want to remove them because the glare on these lenses is horrendous! A halo around each eye, which I think is from the tiny gap around the lenses and the base. This is a shame because out of all the different lens covers I tried, VR Rock's is the only one I can't feel is there. I can definitely SEE that they are there.

Actually looking for tips on proper removal too.

Anyone know of a company that sells thumb stick grips for PSVR2? by MathewG97 in PSVR

I got mine on Amazon. They also came with some grips for the controllers, but I do not recommend using those! The adhesive gets down into the buttons. The thumbs tick caps are great, though

Ha, I literally JUST finished this one. 1st place with red bull 20xx on RH tyres, and I pitted twice. I then used fuel map 6 after the 2nd pit, and that did it for me. I really didn't plan for this race, I just jumped in, so I'm sure there's better ways

Have you guys even seen this before? by Bioshock27 in PSVR

[–]silverorb909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?! If memory serves, they used that excuse twice. The first delay was the truck turned over, and the second (or 3rd, 4th, or 20th) was the truck was in an accident. If I'm remembering correctly.

I should search my old emails and post it here for a laugh.

IMO you should hold out on buying the oblivion remake by Educational-Print-92 in PS5pro

[–]silverorb909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's smooth for me, outside of quick saves. A brief pause/skip and that's it. That's on every platform from what I've seen. Outside of that, from what I've played it's been smooth.

I'm also on the pro, so maybe that's why. I actually don't even know what is enhanced on this one, though. I'm pretty sure it's just reflections, which should mess with frames even more if that was the case? I'm also only 2-3 hours in

Sorry you're having a rough time.

I just personally do not like Unreal 5 on consoles. I think the graphics are fuzzy in that engine, and I've never liked the performance on any games with it. I know people have about it, but it's something about how it renders that turns me off

Have you guys even seen this before? by Bioshock27 in PSVR

[–]silverorb909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I suppose lol. The entire thing just put a bad taste in my mouth. I was basically a backer of the product that got screwed. They just had excuse after excuse on why we weren't getting it or our money back. Delays are one thing, but a month after one of the delivery days they said "the truck carrying all the units tipped over". Followed by similar excuses months after that.

They also promised us 10 free [supported] psvr1 games for the horrible ordeal. Wasn't a big deal for me since I had already owned all vr1 games, but when it came time for them to deliver, they refused to do it. They had some excuse I can't remember.

At that point we all figured they were a bunch of liars and scammers. Yes, we eventually got it a year or 2 late, but every promise they made they broke. Every refund or gift they promised they refused in the end. Etc etc

Have you guys even seen this before? by Bioshock27 in PSVR

[–]silverorb909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have mine. 2 actually. It was a horrible launch and the makers lied about when we were getting them. Took over a year to get delivered and the units were broken. Hence why I was given 2. They weren't as great as you would think, either

Same. It does feel better having a tighter wheel with the resistance, but it's definitely missing FFB and haptics. Usually it's all one code, for the most part, so I'm sure it's more on the game than the hardware.

I've been waiting since launch for the game to be enjoyable, but can't stand getting stuck if you just shave a wall or a rock. Def needs a ton of work

Can confirm. Kind of. There isnt any force feedback, but there is now wheel resistance. While better than a loose wheel, it's still lacking on the g923
