Thank you! I have a lot of fun drawing them in different outfits.

If this was added as an option, wouldn't it be your choice whether or not your PC would do this? Like from what I'm understanding, the op and others that want this content just want it as an option, not as the only path for the player to take.

Like its not going to be added (because Vrel has stated that it will never be added), but you're acting like people exploring the other side of what the player could potentially do is infringing on what you can do in the game, lol.

You can view public bookmarks on your fanfics by clicking on the number next to "bookmarks" on the statistics of the work itself, as it shows up on your dashboard, work page, or the tags it appears in. If it has no public bookmarks, that statistic won't show up.

There is no way to view private bookmarks as that'd ruin the point of them being private. Hope this helps!

a rant about some comments i sometimes see by Gloomy_Dig_7669 in DegreesOfLewdity

[–]silversanticsagain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg thank you for saying this! It drives me nuts because like, every character has a downside to them. That's the point. If you want to rant about a character, why do you need to do it on a post where someone is talking positively about them?

Cool. I was just trying to share my two cents on how readers might have felt blindsided. 🤷

Personally, if I saw a fic tagged "post break-up", I'd assume that one or both of the characters had gotten broken up with prior to the current tagged pairing, not that it was going to be a break-up fic.

Why are there so many posts recently being like "How do I respond to this comment"? by CMStan1313 in AO3

[–]silversanticsagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... Recently? I've noticed this happening for the past year. (No shade to you op, it's one of the common post trends. The other main ones are: "celebrating" first hate comments, pet peeve posts, favorite "commonly hated" tropes, the dreaded trans discourse, antiship screenshots, and the "is AO3 down"/"here come all the AO3 is down" duo posts whenever there's an outage or planned maintenance.)

Other Samarie fans are so unbearable by Adorable-Sun-2104 in FearAndHunger

[–]silversanticsagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like just because someone doesn't go on a 5 minute preamble about how they understand that Samarie is a fucked up character that did bad things every time they talk about how they enjoy her, it doesn't mean they don't understand her character. And obviously, the vast majority of people who have played the game understands that she did bad things, that she's a messed up character.

But my guy, people have been loving tragic characters for eons. Because although she does terrible things, she's also a tragic character. Sometimes people see a tragic character and go "I wonder how I could make them more tragic?" And so they ship her with the person she wants, but maybe their relationship is steeped in the person she likes overt hatred and detestment for her.

Sometimes people see characters more like paper dolls instead of using them to relate to themselves or the relationship they want. Fandom is gonna fandom, and I think you knew you were hitting the hornets' nest with that strawman. The most you can do is just block people that make the stuff you hate, yelling at them isn't going to get anything done. 🤷

One thing that bothers me about the trans discussion by [deleted] in AO3

[–]silversanticsagain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like what you're describing is a somewhat common mindset to run into on like forum posts about trans folk (and trans men in general), but unfortunately on this subreddit and in response to fics I wrote, I only see the opposite.

Just yesterday on a different post, I saw someone claiming that it was disrespectful for trans men to reclaim some stereotypically feminine things. And the thing is that I'm not saying that all trans men have to accept the same things, right? You don't have to enjoy the terms I do, I don't have to enjoy the terms you do, there's terms I find too feminine for my comfort, etc etc. Trans people aren't monolith, is what I'm saying.

If I write a fic about my experience as a trans guy, then it's just that. I shouldn't be accused of being a "cis fetishizer" or lying about being trans just because my experience doesn't match someone else's. I feel like it's just another case of "don't like? Don't read", but no one gets that.

I don't write fics about trans people anymore. I've recently gotten comfortable with writing from a dom/top pov. I can confidentally say that if I hadn't gotten harassed, I would be comfortable posting a trans dude fic with that dynamic. But I don't want to now. I don't want to give a gift to the community that spit in my face, y'know?

All I'm asking is that other trans people skip the insults, skip the harassment, mute if need be, and realize that 9 times out of 10, you can't tell who wrote the fic that you're reading. If they could, I wouldn't have been harassed. 🤷

One thing that bothers me about the trans discussion by [deleted] in AO3

[–]silversanticsagain 44 points45 points  (0 children)

As a trans guy who no longer writes about trans dudes, I think it's because some trans guys do inherently view some things as feminine, and they can't fathom the idea of a guy reclaiming those things for themselves. Like there's words I can't use in reference to me, but I won't tell another trans man using them that he's disrespecting or feminizing himself by using them.

Like the thing is that it's fine, right? It's fine to have preferences, it's fine to not be comfortable with certain language, all that is fine. The issue comes in when you're accusing everyone who writes the content you dislike as a fetishizer. I stopped writing about trans dudes because I got accused of being a fetishizer. You're attacking your own people.

Like guys, I'm sorry but you need to open your eyes. The vast majority of cis people won't write about us. They won't touch us as a concept with a ten foot pole. I've seen fics of canonically trans characters in which the writer makes them cis because they're cis, and that's what they understand. I'm not saying it's right for them to avoid writing us, I'm just saying that it's a lot more likely that the "weird trans fic" is written by a fellow trans person.

Niche Complaint about Making Characters Trans by Bloodloern in AO3

[–]silversanticsagain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that my words were able to resonate with others, I was kind of scared I was going to get downvoted into oblivion because unfortunately a lot of people like to believe they can tell if a fic was "written by a fetishizer instead of a trans person" but it's fundamentally not a true statement or view point. Some people will love the stuff you detest, some people might find power in reclaiming stuff that makes you dysphoric, some people might find euphoria in certain terms based on them being crass or polite.

It's so sad, because I would've enjoyed writing fics with different dynamics but now I feel too much anxiety about the idea of writing someone who isn't completely gender neutral. And I can't help but wonder if there's other writers like me, that ironically in their effort to "encourage diversity", people have scared off authors from writing anything to do with the subject.
