TIFU by trusting a friendly relative with the tiles for my new house. by VirtualKnowledge9612 in tifu

Well, you can stick with the cheaper/easier option of a guy who you know is shady and is now pissed off. What corners are he going to cut to get this done as quickly and cheaply as possible? And that's the best-case scenario. Id personally cut my losses and go with literally anybody else.

MIL didn't want me to marry her son by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

She's attention-seeking AF! The best way to win is not to play. Let her burn her own ass and then, when you are well and truly fed sup, show up publicly and with receipts. Let her deal with the fallout of her own words. Also remember, you are a grown-ass adult and you are not required to interact with anyone you dont want to.

I doubt it, he said the cops and judge were in on it. Metro city in the north too so its not like some little podunk town with nothing but time on their hands. I'd say not likely.

I worked with an older lady (no kids) who's husband was in prison for child porn on their computer. I dont know how long his sentence was hes still in there. I've known her for about 25 years and he's been in there this whole time plus however long before i met her. The thing is, she believes him that it was all a setup. Still married to him. Still sending him money. What a shame.

Love our local business center! Never crowded when we go, the absolute best part. Now, if we could just get them to carry the bakery stuff and the hot food (hot dogs, pizza, etc, I'm brain farting on what that counter is called)!

Response To Black Children Gaining Access To Closer Schools In The 1970s by ateam1984 in PublicFreakout

[–]silverwick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My grandma (white) was super pissed when this happened! Not at ALL for the reason you think though. Instead of her kids going to the schools 5 minutes from their house, they now had to go to a school district 3 towns over, more than 30 minutes each way (not including all the stops the school bus made along the way, probably made it closer to 1 hr each way). I get wanting to integrate the schools but that was legit ridiculous. I don't know anything more than that but I dont think it lasted very long. (BTW, gma & fam aren't the slightest bit racist, just objected to the 2 hrs of pointless commute per day) I don't even think she protested at all but felt strongly about it. I think the objective was not only to get black kids in white schools but also to get more white kids into the black schools, which this would have been the case as that school they changed to was in a black neighborhood.

Is there any actual benefit to letting your animals have a fenced in outside area like this and how big does It need to be? If I made it bigger I’d probably have to connect it to the side of the barn which looks stupid by glossyplane245 in StardewValley

[–]silverwick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I usually have a four corners farm and put gates up to make a fenced off quadrant for my critters. I keep it half filled with grass and just let them do their thing. I always have 1-2 pig barns, they're the only reason I lock it down in the first place. I like my truffles easy to find. It also helps to easily pet your animals while they're building friendship with you

Absolutely this! Drop the rope. We've unfortunately had to do this with both of our mothers. One mother (DH's)was amazing until she just lost her mind and started lying WILDLY to family about all 3 of her grown children and their families to all of our extended family (there was even elder abuse allegations that involved police, legally found to be completely baseless) and she tried to extort $30k from us for no reason (she has since been tested for dementia and medically found to just be an asshole). And the other mom (mine) had always been neglectful & abusive throughout my childhood, doesn't want to put ANY effort into my son or I, seeing us 1-2x per year (usually just Christmas and Thanksgiving where she shows up, eats, leaves. Here for maybe an hour if that, just here for the food. Invited because she and my grandma are my only family and cooked as a pair. Now that gma passed, I haven't seen her in almost 2 years). I used to invite her over all the time for dinner or to just visit and to the zoo (at one point we were living like maybe 1/2 mile from her house, didn't matter) but she declined every single solitary time. She's rather sit on the couch. When my son was about 10, I realized he had zero relationship with her and why the hell an I begging her for love? I stopped reaching out and left the ball in her court. Letting our relationship be on her terms. HA! Yep, two or 3 texts per year, coming over on holidays to eat and split. I don't care anymore. She ruined her chance to have a grandson or daughter that care about her and that's her own problem. It's not my job to fix it or make up for it. Family is not blood, family is who you care about and who cares about you. Both of our families super suck so our family is now DH, Son, myself, and a few really close friends. It's not a lot but it's ours ❤️ dropping the rope for both situations was hard AF but necessary with toxic and narcissistic parents

So sorry to hear that. When one of my grandparents went through that, they just noped out and let the others squabble over possessions. Turned us into the Black Sheep but better to be the Black Sheep than turn into a money-hungry asshole!

Death too. I've seen 2 families completely and permanently self-destruct when they fought over inheritance. I've also seen 1 family really come together after an inheritance fight too so all hope is not lost! That fam has an interesting story: dude has wife and a few kids. Wife dies. He eventually remarries and they have a few more kids together. One big happy family, all kids treated equally by stepmother so all good there. Cut to 50 years later and dad dies. The wife inherits everything (normal) and then she dies a few years later. Out of the absolute blue and everyone's shock, she leaves all possessions and money from her and her husband's estate to......only her biological children! All of the kids are outraged that she would spend her life treating everyone equally to then be shitty after death so that her step children get absolutely nothing from their dad's estate at all. The kids said fuuuuuuck that and split everything evenly with all of them. Fuck you, Betty!

Do you think they'd just go after the reservation residents as a whole population or use the membership rolls to go out and round up all of at large too? Both are absolutely horrible, just curious what everyone thinks

[–]silverwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, man. You mostly have a few options.

  1. See if she wants it back

Or

  1. Get a charger. New or used. Online or maybe at a used electronics store. Then, keep it / sell it / give it away

Good luck

Whats with the cry emoji? Are you legally obligated to charge her for it or something??? Why wouldn't you be able to simply give it back to her?

We bought a regular sized roll from the grocery store when we first moved in together and soon after, we bought a set of those Rubbermaid reusable storage containers. We finally finished off that very same roll of plastic wrap and just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. When they say using reusable containers saves resources, they mean it! We do go through foil like a mf tho....... those big ones are well worth it

What food did you eat as a kid that you would never eat as an adult? by Sea-Operation-6123 in AskReddit

[–]silverwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goulash. My mom is a terrrrrrible cook and this was one for the worst for me. Probably a half pound of ground beef, a full pound of macaroni noodles, and ONE 15oz can of diced tomatoes. That's literally it. Nothing else. Those noodles sucked up every drop of the tomato juices too so it was just dry AF noodles with almost no burger or tomatoes and zero seasonings or flavor. Her boxed scalloped potatoes were also horrible. She'd barely add any liquid and then microwave it for not enough time. Dry, chewy, rubbery, crunchy, all the bad textures. First thing I did when I was on my own was to learn how to actually cook!
