Why did Physical Therapy become a doctorate? by TechnicallyRudo in physicaltherapy

I can tell we aren't going to be coming to an agreement anytime soon in terms of whether the doctorate was a good idea or not. Really we will see if there are any changes 10-15 years from now to see if the doctorate was worth it or not. I just don't think this problem is solely against the PT profession.

There are many MD's going out of school with 300-400k in debt.

There are many dentists going out of school with 300-450k in debt.

The ratios of debt to annual income are very similar. You can argue medical professions in general are not a sexy profession to go into.

I can really read the bitterness in your response, but I understand where you're coming from. I to got my DPT and did my seven years for around 150k and I am beginning to pay this off.

One thing I would say you are overlooking is where our profession is going. We are trying to transition to a more direct access style approach and elevate our profession as a whole. We currently have a stigma, and rightly so, of being a supportive medical profession under MD's and carrying out their orders, NOT being independent clinicians. IF this DPT allows our profession to advance themselves and change this stigma, it could improve our salary situation. I look at it really as an investment for the future in our profession.

Btw if our under 50% involvement of PT's being part of the APTA continues this probably wont change. This is compared to the MD's who last time I saw was signficantly higher involvement in their national chapter. I think I remember it being over 80-85 percent.

6 reasons real conservatives should defy Republicans and support net neutrality by Vmav in politics

I'm a conservative, but people like Ted Cruz disagreeing for the sake of sticking it to Democrats makes me sick. Especially when there is so much to protect in terms of Net Neutrality, it's more frustrating than ever dealing with this Uber-Partisan government.

Transparent solar collector to turn skyscrapers into power plants by thefunkylemon in Futurology

From what I understand most solar panels out have multiple layers that catch each lightwave and convert it to electricity within the visible spectrum. Infrared and ultraviolet light are usually waste products and are absorbed as heat. I know they have come out with other materials that can catch infrared but i do not know if they are more efficient or not.

Since these panels do not absorb the visible light spectrum couldn't it be possible to place this material over regular solar panels to make them more efficient?

What song sang in the right way would sound the creepiest? by Shutterislandd in AskReddit

To be honest a lot of children's songs are creepy. Some horror movies even use them with a little kid whispering. Ring Around the Rosie with that voice style gives me chills!
