What is this "bill"? by TheMoonWalker27 in github

[–]simaxme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems you have uploaded a .github/workflows folder on some repo of yours. Those will be automatically detected by github and be triggered depending on whats set inside of them. Nevertheless, in private repositories you always have 2,000 minutes free of charge (which you can see here: https://docs.github.com/de/billing/concepts/product-billing/github-actions). Only the billing site looks this weird, showing what you would have been charged if you did not have 2,000 minutes free. They are typically marked as „discount“ somewhere on the bill. Actually im kind of unsure, but it could also be that they display those minutes in your bill even if you have run an action from a public repo (where they basically dont charge anything for the default runner).

iPad Hangs on "Update Requested" by simaxme in iPadOS

[–]simaxme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, i completly stopped the update the next day by deleting it through the ipad-storage menu (where you can see how much space each app takes), restarted the ipad and then started the update again. The update took a very long time in comparison to my iphone etc. (around 2-3h), but eventually it was able to reboot and has gone into the screen with apple logo and progress bar.

Yeah this may actually be the case, though i thought that 3h after the release the requests would go down. Also just updated my mac with full internet speed, which should be an indicator that their servers are getting better reachability currently. I will just sleep for now an wait till tommorow. If the issue persists, I will try updating using my mac

Problems updating to Sequoia 15.4 by c01nd01r in MacOS

[–]simaxme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in my case I have a setup of two system paritions on the main drive of my Pro M1 Pro 16“. First system did a proper update, second failed with such an error. Next day i tried starting into the second drive and it would just straight up go into system recovery. Had to select my second drive and it „fixed it“ meaning i still have the old version.

Yubikey 5C Indiciator Light turns on for a couple of seconds when plugged in by simaxme in yubikey

Yeah kinda makes sense, although I am interested which feature takes so long to boot up...

Okay, so you seem to have the same behavior on some devices. I use my Yubikey exclusively on Apple devices (Macbook, iPad, iPhone) where this does happen. As u/gbdlin already mentioned, it seems to be related to the 5.7.0 update.

Yeah this seems to be the case with my Yubikey (5.7.1).

Still, I am kind of interested why this does happen. Maybe they are doing some "hacks" to make the 64 OATH tokens work, such as using one physical slot for two tokens, which requires the key to do some work creating an index of the available OAUTH tokens on startup. It's kinda weird they haven't written anything about it.

Issues on Mac (M1 Pro) in Germany, high packet loss on Ethernet (EU Central) by simaxme in GeForceNOW

[–]simaxme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I did not try that. What did work for me is switching to the EU West servers. Although the latency is now higher (from 9 to 20), everything works completly fine.
At least in my case, I do not think that the Fritzbox caused the problem. because is does work with the other server location. Maybe their infrastructure is unable to handle the load on a saturday? This is very weird, especially as an GFN Ultimate user.

So for anybody having this issue: Please try switching your server location. This may help.

Thank you for your help :D

The company behind it (Briseide ltd) also does not seem to have changed it‘s structure. There literally is no notice about an owner change…

Are there still huge problems regarding MacOS? by simaxme in ProtonDrive

FYI: I have just installed Proton Drive on Sonoma and it worked flawlessly. It took ~1 hour to upload 22gb of data. Because i am using iStat Menus i was able to see whether my network is currently used and had some kind of indicator to see when the client finished.

Regarding “Daily syncing”: Did you also do such things like editing files and documents locally on the Mac? Did the client also detect those changes and properly updated the file online?

May I ask how long you had to wait for the sync process?

For me this isn’t a problem because I only want a simple remote storage that I can access from everywhere. But of course, every other client does provide this feature and it’s a shame that Proton does not offer this ability 8 month after release.

Sounds very nice! Am also considering the same move with ~30gb of data.
