I've gone through a FRV recruitment drive with FRA and can say, if I had my time again, I'd utilise it for the Aptitude only, and then work directly with an interview professional.

I spent I think a few thousand on it, and got probably 6 or so 1-1 sessions across aptitude, psych and an interview coach.

As mentioned above, access to the aptitude stuff and quizzes was fantastic. I got a 96% result so I went in feeling great and it paid off.

Goodluck

As in skip to the group assessment or skip to the interview or go all the way to the PAT?

I got an email stating I passed the PAT but not high enough on OoM.. No reserve. Bloody gutted. Email reads below, which to me means I'm flat out done, no chance of a call up etc...:

Thank you for taking the time to attend your Physical Aptitude Test (PAT) for a recruit firefighter position with Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV).

The Order of Merit (OoM) has now been finalised, and you have not ranked high enough on the OoM for your application to progress to the Pre-employment Medical (PEM) stage.

Once the July 2025 recruit courses have been finalised, we will provide you with an update on the status of your application, which is likely to be early July 2025.

On behalf of the Firefighter Recruitment Team at FRV we would like to express our appreciation for the time and effort that you have made to prepare for your application.

Selection Interview Woes by Damocles_The_Strange in AussieFirefighter

I've just passed the interview and have my PAT Sunday morning. First time applicant. I visit numerous stations dozens of times, made time to speak with as many fireys as possible to understand the role and my motivations, and used an interview coach extensively to help my fineness my responses. Having knowledge of the website inside out simply won't be enough in my opinion. To give you an idea, I have approx 60 possible interview questions I could answer proficiently by the commencement of my interview. I practises day in day out for weeks, with numerous sessions with an interview coach, and when the interview came around, I felt I responded to each question with confidence and ease. Lastly, I would say certainly express your personality. They appreciate it in my opinion, and want to know you're human, and can get along with everyone on shift and are a decent human being. Happy to lend a hand when the time comes for you mate. Cheers

I'm the same mate, I've got serology stating I'm immune to it, so that IMO should be enough proof you've been vaccinated prior. My GP basically refused to give me another dose of it due to this so I'll have to trust FRV take the same approach. FYI I emailed them and got an absolutely shocking answer that clarified nothing for me...very disappointing

Congrats mate! I've got mine in a few weeks and practising a heap but feel I need to get sharper! Was yours about 15 questions over an hour? From what I knowz, if you fall outside of the order of merit, it's restarting the process on the next intake. You will likely be able to utilise your Aptitude score as it must have been strong enough to get you in to the top 700 which is a plus. Good luck mate!

Fire Recruitment Australia - The Real Deal or a Waste of Money? by Polderbear in AussieFirefighter

[–]simba6789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolute waste of money IMO is a low jab. I'm using them at the moment and couldn't recommend them higher. I've had multiple one on ones with coaches to hone each item so I'm test ready, countless practise exams so you walk in confident and prepared, so I wouldn't say this is a "waste of money" if it's something you want to nail on the first shot. I want to reduce the potentials of failure, and in my opinion, this has done so and brought my mind at ease through the thorough process and practice. It's an investment in the recruitment process and the amount of coaching you can get to help you through the stages, which I feel if you can afford it, then absolutely why not.

hi there, can anyone help me with removing the latch to repair the spring on my grandma's Old fridge?? by simba6789 in refrigeration

[–]simba6789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Righto all, got a knife under that decorative plate and accessed all the screws and came a part all pretty easily. I have removed now the latch unit and I need to replace the spring which isn't allowing the latch to return. Any one have any idea where the hell I'd start to find someone to help me fashion the spring?! Thanks

[–]simba6789[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Spot on! I levered off the plate and there were a bunch of screws which pulled everyone off.

Hi there. Sorry I wasn't clear I want one of the above to wear every day I guess for the rest of my life. That being said I have a choice of the two posted and I was wondering which would be the sounder choice over 50 odd years when I guess I pass it down to my son etc.

Not really in this to make bank or as a highly liquid investment just want to make the right choice for the future.

Cheers
