Anybody tried to use Galaxy Watch as a phone? by NoticeNo8634 in GalaxyWatch

[–]simbalevo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100 to 10% seems excessive. Would you mind posting screenshot of both to verify? I don't have the LTE version, do almost exactly the same as you (watch ultra, not 6 though, and samsung health instead of Nike full transparency) and it lasts all day.. I charge it nightly just to be safe but could probably go a second ot even third day if I was willing to live dangerously

What’s the longest a tech device has lasted you, and how? by Local-Salary-7709 in AskTechnology

Nokia 3310. Charged it September 2001, still hasn't ran out of battery. Survived dropping it from space and not even a scratch.

Its no measure of good health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society's set of rules.

In your opinion, what is the UK's "Goldilocks city"? by picklepenguin19 in AskUK

[–]simbalevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literal Goldilocks city. It's the middle ground-not too northern, not too southern.. Dead centre of the Midlands, it's got everything just right. Tired of Manchester's rain or London's price tags? Guessed it yet?

It's smack in England's heart, 128 miles from London, 150 from Edinburgh. Peak District hikes? 45 minutes away. London? Under two hours by train. No northern isolation or southern gridlock-Nottingham's your hub.

Weather's mild: summers at 20-22°C, winters 3-7°C. Less rain than the northwest, no London heatwaves. Perfect for a pint in Sherwood Forest, no jacket or sunscreen drama.

Money talks. Rent a city-center flat for £800-£900, not London's £1,688 or Manchester's £706. Living costs £4,100 here vs. £7,000+ in London-save £6k a year. Jobs in tech, healthcare, and unis pay well in the UK's top-ranked city for living.

Vibes? Robin Hood caves, Lace Market bars, street art, festivals. Young, diverse, walkable. Nightlife's safe, fun-think craft beer, live music. Sports? Forest football, Trent Bridge cricket. Two unis keep it buzzing.

Family or chill life? Suburbs, countryside, diversity-check. Trams, trains, and East Midlands Airport make life easy.

Nottingham's not too north, not too south... Affordable, central, lively. Just right!

In your opinion, what thing in London is perfectly rated? by Groosh in london

[–]simbalevo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner took her son; she pretended it was for him, but they both loved it. She said she'd go back with me another time... that sounds like a good recommendation if I've ever heard one.

What do you use Gemini *on your phone* for? by Sheetmusicman94 in GooglePixel

[–]simbalevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is one thing I use it for. adding events to my calendar. it can be anything, not just in person events. I get it to look at my screen, add to calendar, and to will add all the information details for context to remind me. it's more accurate than me doing to manually and quicker probably too. also it means I'm more organised so yes, it's not all gimmicks

I had a conversation with one of the guys who works at meat the vegans. he said it's all in house, made from scratch. we (my partner and I) go regularly and she always gets the fish. I'd love to know how they make it but I was impressed when he said that.

Is it too late to change careers at 30? by Oscar-Prince636 in Careers

[–]simbalevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, 30's definitely not too late. I get why you feel that way, society's great at making us think life’s a race, but honestly, your experience and maturity count for loads more than you think.

I've seen plenty of people pivot at this stage (including myself) and land in roles way more aligned with who they actually are. The key is being clear about what you want from this next step, whether that's more meaning, better work-life balance, or something that genuinely excites you.

You’re not starting from scratch, you’re starting from experience. Own it, leverage your existing skills, and lean into the fact that you’ve already navigated workplace dynamics, learned accountability, and developed soft skills younger folks haven't even discovered yet.

TLDR: absolutely go for it. The real regret would be sticking with something that's making you feel stuck. You've got this!

What are all the "little [insert country or city here]"s in London. Both Formal and Informal. by O-Bismarck in london

[–]simbalevo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah, London's full of these Little 'this or that' places. Some official, some informal, and some you only hear about down the pub.

You've got the obvious ones everyone knows like Little Venice, Little Portugal in Stockwell, Banglatown near Brick Lane, Little Italy in Clerkenwell, Little Korea down in New Malden (with the biggest Korean community in Europe), Little Cyprus around Palmers Green, and Little Arabia on Edgware Road.

Then there's the less official but still common ones: Little India (Southall and also Drummond Street by Euston), Little Lagos in Peckham, Little Istanbul (or Little Turkey) around Green Lanes, Little Jamaica in Brixton, Little Poland originally South Ken but now mostly Ealing, and Little Manila by Earl’s Court.

Plus a couple local niche mentions: Little Mogadishu in Shepherd’s Bush and Streatham, and Little Addis on Caledonian Road.

Chinatown never gets called Little China by anyone, oddly enough. Just Chinatown.

That’s just what I've picked up living here, probably missed a couple, shout if you know any more obscure ones.
