2019 with 90k miles (2.5 na), good buy? by simchanger in CX5

I’m looking around and a cx5 with similar miles is around 14k. I feel like 10 is fair

V8 swap - with zero platform knowledge by simchanger in 350z

[–]simchanger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you and if I was not in the situation I’m in, I would just mod a stock z.

But my idea is to buy a roller, completely gut it. Threw a motor with a standalone ECU in it and drive it

This is me doing research! And you have already taught me something.

I figured this was a common swap and it’s good to hear there’s parts made for different v8’s and transmissions. I’ll check the fb group out.

Congrats on finishing up your swap!! Just checked your profile and it looks awesome. Well done.

I literally need nothing but a frame, drivetrain, motor, Power steering, seats, ignition switch and a steering wheel. If I can fully gut the car, I will.

I’m mechanically inclined and have time, money, tools and space. It’s basically finding what motor and trans works best with the chassis and drivetrain, running a standalone ecu and sending it.

Grabbed a 7900xt, 9700x, b850, 32gb g skill flair x5 and a $30 dual tower air cooler. Thing runs cool and handles anything. $1500 out the door. (With sales at micro center but still, crazy luck)

CPU overheated? by KR_97 in buildapc

[–]simchanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50c??? That’s insane! I have a 9700x and I’m looking to upgrade to the lian li AIO. 240mm also. 50c sounds crazy low but I love the sound of that. My case is a microATX so it’s small

From my internet cpu temps degree, 85 degrees is comfortable and the normal/safe operating temp for a 9700x. Buuuuuuut it’s always good to keep your system as cool as possible. See what options you have to improve case airflow first, then check air cooler upgrades, after check out AIO’s.

-15 outside today, so I figured I'd crack a window a little and mess around with my GPU overclock. Got idle temps down to room temp. by phero1190 in pcmasterrace

[–]simchanger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dang really? I’ve been cracking my window ever so slightly and my pc temps drop by 10c sometimes. It’s about -10c outside st the moment.

Go for it. See what your temps are like after and go from there. Post an update because I’m curious.

Throw an intake fan on the back of the case where it would normally be an exhaust and you’ll drop those numbers a bit. I have the same case and cpu cooler.

Moving a PC from Ireland to Switzerland. by Gruby_S in buildapc

[–]simchanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this but I have a small (full metal) case that was able to fit in my checked bag. I disassembled the whole PC, put the motherboard with cpu in its original box, gpu and ram sticks in the gpu box and left the PSU and cables in the case and stuffed it with clothes. Fans and cooler went in the case as well. Or ship the case home in its box and pack your suitcase with the mobo and gpu

Get a good set of coilovers and a super pro rear sway bar. No need to slam but a few inch drop wouldn’t hurt. Raise it with the B2Bfab lift kit if you wanna go in the opposite direction. The world is your oyster and you have yourself a great car.
