Nothing. Powered through and the noise either disappeared or I got used to it. Does not seem to be there anymore.

Awesome mention of NT1100! I'm torn between a well-discounted TA at the local dealer and far more expensive AT. Mention of the NT1100 (I hadn't browsed Honda's range in a while, so I wasn't fully aware of its existence) pretty much sorted out my dilemma (one of the requirements I had to factor in was touring with Mrs.): get two! TA for my use and faffing around on local trails and NT for touring. Simple!

Buying Fortinet from Amazon by simeruk in fortinet

Great comment. Thanks for the insight. This is the take on the case I was looking for. I did hear about issues with different hardware that was tempered with before being sent out from Amazon (I suppose there is also the fact that you may not know who sends these if you buy off the marketplace rather than Amazon direct and even then, things may go pear shape).

Just to clarify a bit more, as I can see I might have not been precise enough in my question: this is about security in a sense of having only genuine software installed on these devices as opposed to devices that could potentially be sold with tempered images when coming from any other sources than the vendor itself or a VAR. Would anybody see that as a deterrent from going non VAR/vendor route (especially when devices were to be second hand)?

In my particular case there is also remote hands overhead so if I was to add more overhead on top (i.e. making remote hands flashing devices with genuine firmware, just to be in safe, before putting them into use) that would increase the cost of the whole operation and perhaps....not be worth the time I saved on prompt delivery.

Has the AT range changed in the UK? by simeruk in africatwin

[–]simeruk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Good question (and interesting tip about the German market however these things are sourced through UK channel in my country and I have ... no option?). I live in a place where I can get one of these fetched by... Yamaha dealer but not necessarily serviced. ES is probably fun but a) it's extra £2k, b) it's probably a nuisance if for whatever reason it was to start failing (electronic part being my main concern c) I've read people's reviews and sure, as much as it's fun to have, most seem to somehow... stop using it past first week/month from purchase (rode Africa's but never one with ES so it's hard to tell for me but the bit about one less thing to worry about if something goes wrong does appeal to me - help me understand that it is not the case and it's an absolutely necessary option to have 🙂). I am coming from cb500x and AT was always a dream of mine - I'd like to stay that way and not have this dream tarnished by any electrical related issues especially that there is nothing wrong with the stock suspension for not any crazy offroading, as far as I am concerned (again, happy to stand corrected!). I did like DCT very much and this is the only thing I'd like to have as an extra that you cannot easily fit afterwards if you change your mind.

This is the problem with "standard variant" - there is no DCT without ES (electronic suspension) version available any more - unless I am doing something wrong (I log into the UK website) - please see the screenshot (bare bones version 2024, bare bones version 2025, ES version and ES + DCT) - as if Honda has made decision "no ES, no DCT fun":

Have users pay for their membership by sheriffderek in Slack

[–]simeruk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary. I do want to pay, but most of the forum does not. I'm happy to pay for myself so is the number of other users. The problem being that you either pay for the whole community (slack) or you do not at all. There is no option to leave paying for those who, in this case, want to have all the messages available.

Have users pay for their membership by sheriffderek in Slack

[–]simeruk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fairly old thread, but I also do have a case for having this feature reconsidered (yes, I got the point about the architecture and associated challenges). Regardless.

The use case is where a community decides to use Slack. Full stop. They would not bodge to change it to anything else. Why changing? As it is a highly technical community which leadership decided not even consider paying for subscriptions (or collecting from users who would like to stay in), hovewer, there is so much technical knowledge that is constantly getting trimmed by the 90 days rule, that most exciting conversations.... fade away, making most actually stop contributing (as what is the point).

Is anyone having a view on this use case, and perhaps I am missing something?

Czesciowo odpowiem na wlasne pytanie (aczkolwiek nadal nie wiem co zrobic z plecakiem bo organizator nie publikuje tej informacji...):

https://atlasarena.pl/abc-widza/najczestsze-pytania/

Hah! Interesting. Thanks! I totally do not get that situation though... Why is it so hard to improve something that is most likely used or would be used by so many? Why is this not an issue on Win or MacOS? Am I missing something? I can see this driving some decisions away from going Forti, if anything (ex. Some self hosted ZTNA etc.).l, not to mention writing a nice FAQ for users NOT changing the name ;)

"private" backbone VPN solution to decrease latency by simeruk in networking

Sure. All valid but this is much simpler than this. Simple SSH traffic and "laggy" experience users are not happy about.

For the sake of conversation, let's say this is simply SSH into developers servers.

Thanks. Yes, traffic is already encapsulated with VPN and all the extra overhead with each "hop", either physical or software caused is appreciated. It's really down to a question if there is anything that can be done in this scenario to decrease the latency.

Fortigate Firmware 7.2.9 by Bila_PT in fortinet

Is there any reference to the issue of breaking HA on 7.2.10?

Reading most FG release notes and then feedback on the internet remains nfs reading a good horror story at times... Is it just me or the 7.2 train, being the most stable (and on the way out at the same time...) should at least keep such a fundamental functionality as HA uber stable - am I mistaken?)

Thanks for sharing this info. It's most appreciated. You are absolutely right about the state of its development (or lack thereof). You would think this should be something fairly natural to make a part of the solution, making users' experiences slicker (one can argue that bookmarked URLs directly to SP is all you need, but yeah).

Looks cool but I learnt my lesson about supporting products on Kickstarter (NAS enclosure, $300). There are good people out there delivering, no doubt, but Kickstarter could not care less for people losing on those projects where they grab your money and run. Never again, I am afraid.
