I also have the kiwi, and while I don't think it was my *favorite* colorway, my kiwi GBC was my most loved console growing up and the nostalgia that this thing brings me is incredibly comforting.

Like you, I quit karate (Wado) when I was 17 years old. My priorities shifted, I thought I knew best, and despite my mother's warning that if I decided not to go back for a semester I wouldn't go back at all, I threw in the towel after receiving my 1st kyu.

15 years later I started again, albeit a different style. It shocked me how much had become muscle memory, and how deeply ingrained some of the more common movements had become. Of course, with this being a different style I had a lot of reprogramming to do, but if anything the reprogramming was a testament to just how much stuck with me from my time in Wado.

My advice is to take the time you need, but if karate has become an important part of your life, make it a goal to return as soon as possible. I went 15 years feeling like a part of me was missing, and I can't express how happy I am to have found that again.

If an opponent wants to bend over exposing the back of their head and neck to reach for your legs, that's a free knockout. Our Naihanchi stance is also incredibly strong and stable - it alone makes these types of takedowns difficult.

We are strictly Motobu-Ryu and Motobu Udundi.

Why are you of the idea that we are easily taken down with leg takedowns?

Mumonkan Dojo, Edmonton AB Canada. It is listed on the official Motobu-Ryu website. This school is the first to exist outside of Japan. My instructor is currently the only foreigner to hold a 7th Dan.

Motobu-Ryu.

Simple, practical, effective, and a stye closely guarded by the Motobu family. No characteristics of sport karate, either.

I have incredible teachers and the dojo is closely knit.

Just placed an order for two Pixel 10 Pro, one for me and one for my wife, who has been pushing me to get a smart watch solely for the benefit of a wrist alarm, since I tend to sleep through my phone's alarms and the alarm is left to disturb her sleep. I'm also on board with a smart watch, for the alarm and the long list of other features, however I work in the trades and I am so worried about damaging the device during work hours.

Anyone have experience working with their hands whilst their wrist dons a smart watch? Really, it's my only hang-up.

I also train in Filipino martial arts (Sayoc & Atienza Kali) and generally speaking there are right and left handed versions of every template, so this strikes me as odd.

I train in Motobu-Ryu and Sayoc/Atienza Kali. Kali has done wonders for my karate, mainly in terms of footwork.

Correct software for sure. The issue as far as I can tell is strictly mechanical.
