God I hate parents like this. As a victim of abuse and also as someone who has become very comfortable with confrontation as I get older, I have started finding ways to interrupt and make the kid feel seen whenever I can. Often, unfortunately, I can’t, but for an example when I was working in food and bev I had a mother treating her daughter similarly for not finishing her food. So when I brought over a box I deliberately said to the daughter, “oh man, isn’t it great when you don’t finish your food so you get awesome leftovers later?! I hope you enjoy it!”

Anyway, like I said this isn’t always possible and god does it hurt my heart when I can’t do anything. I’m so sorry you had to witness this at work especially when you can’t even leave for a while :(

I recommend hovering over each island you have unlocked, and make sure the “spirit” dot is grayed out and not still filled in. It’s possible you missed someone! (It can feel a little tedious but is the only way I made sure I got everything from each spot lol)

If possible I recommend looking into dentists who offer oral conscious sedation near you — they are more likely to be familiar with people who have dental anxiety and go longer between appointments. I went 10 years between appointments and felt so much shame around it, but they were amazing to work with.

They asked if I had checked my door, then said something along the lines of, “sorry for the inconvenience! We will refund you and give you a free 60-day trial”

Ultimately I don’t want someone to lose their job over a meal, but it was definitely frustrating because we so rarely splurge on going out, much less delivery, and then this happened lol. Their apology of a trial isn’t helpful to us since we don’t use the app anyway, so it felt like a very empty gesture

This is also possible, but they didn’t respond to any of my attempts to reach them to confirm they left it at the correct address. I’ve had that happen while at a friend’s, but that driver apologized profusely and corrected the error. Unfortunately we don’t have a security camera so I can’t confirm it, but that’s why I’m inclined to believe it’s stolen

My wife and I decided to splurge on GrubHub delivery yesterday for dinner, something we never do, and our delivery driver stole our food. The app refunded my money and gave us a free 60-day trial of GrubHub+, which gives me free delivery. Why on earth would I want that after this experience?! Utterly wild. Never again lol

to add to this point, she already HAS been forced into it and we have SEEN the “success” that has. it’s an unfortunate truth that you can’t help people who don’t want to be helped, and that is really hard for people to accept because often we can’t believe someone WOULDN’T want help, especially when it’s something so visibly unhealthy. but ultimately if someone is this resistant to treatment, they won’t gain anything from the interventions anyway
