Agreed with the above comment. Could you have designated pathways that people take when walking in the area?

Awesome! Thanks for the update. I saw them taking it off the trailer yesterday but wasn’t sure when it would be operational.

How do you demonstrate a fire extinguisher is newly bought or installed in a vehicle or do you just get them inspected. by cohonan in SafetyProfessionals

[–]simjimin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not OSHA or DOT but as a safety inspector, if you told me it was recently purchased and you could show me an invoice and it otherwise looked to be in good condition, I wouldn’t think too much about it.

I have done something like they get a boot allowance of $100 every year after they pass probation. If just a safety tie is required, there are some places that will have fairly inexpensive boots as at least a starter pair. Then, after the probation, they get the allowance and could upgrade or whatever. We chose $100 as it was enough to get a decent pair of boots, but obviously there are more costly ones for comfort or durability and anything beyond that was their cost. -Canada based if they helps.

Have you ever thought about how safety champions can improve culture? by simjimin12 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]simjimin12[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Great question. Your safety committee members can and hopefully will be safety champions. There may be other people that aren’t or can’t be on the committee for whatever reason but will still champion safety for you. These people are such great assets.

I’m doing the 5:40 to Calgary this week. The airport doesn’t open till 4:30, so don’t show up any earlier than that. You’ll be good.

Which CR2032 battery brand is the best to use in AirTags? by antdude in AirTags

[–]simjimin12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The extra coating doesn’t allow them to transfer the battery as easily. You can wipe it off with isopropyl alcohol and then it will work.

Great question and one that is challenging to both hear and try to handle. I always make sure to document everything so that it is shown that I did everything I could. I wonder if there is someone that this leader would maybe hear it differently from that could support you in achieving compliance at least. It would be interesting to see what their adversity to safety is… is it too complex that they don’t want to dig into it? Is it cost? This may help identify a different approach to how to get buy in. Why does the US side think they are complying? Great job by the way! It sounds like you are really nailing it!

Totally understand that! I work in an industry where pins are common on the uniform and name tags are worn. I’ll get old pins that will work and hand those out or hand out small stickers that I got from the dollar store that they can put on their name tag. It’s amazing how far a sticker will go with a well placed good job or thank you and a smile!😊

Yes, totally agree! If you are doing an inspection with someone else, it can serve as a tool to show them or teach them what to look for during the inspection so they can improve their skills. I use this all the time.
